Hello from @RotoruaNZ! This is our fourth time to this otherworldly town and somehow only our first time visiting the bubbling Kuirau Park, our first stop on the new Rotorua Instagram Trail. This steamy geothermal park is smack dab in the city center and full of trails and volcanic activity. Who else wishes they had a park like this in their hometown? For more behind the scenes of our trip, check out mine and @ryan_domenico’s stories! #RotoruaNZ #KuirauPark
Running to our next adventure like... But in all seriousness, we have some amazing trips planned for 2019 including two international weddings, a new country & state, an epic US national park, a Rotorua adventure, heading Northland for the first time (please send recommendations), and I’m sure we’ll squeeze in some more. Alarm is set for 2am to head into Middle Earth, here’s hoping for a successful sunrise mission 😊 Cheers x Viktoria, Ry & Lia
Parenthood may sometimes mean we’re home by 8 (and that’s a late night) and it may sometimes mean packing an entire car full of Lia’s things and taking hours to get out of the house, but sharing adventure moments with our girl is unimaginably better than life before her. I heard someone say recently, “well she won’t remember any of it,” and while these early experiences won’t be in her memory in later life, we will have so many stories to tell her and photos of all of our travels to show her. It’s not all about the memories, it’s about cherishing these moments as a family, it’s about teaching her things that will stay with her forever and living for now.
Teaching Lia about photography Me: “And this is why we shoot during golden hour.” ✨ Lia bean: “Dad, are we almost done here?”
I’m sat here trying to think of a motivational or inspirational caption, but all I hear is “the cow in the triangle wants to sing for you moo moo moo the cow in the triangle.” Mom brain is real. Baby toys are (mostly) annoying. The cube is not fun for everyone, but my babe is happy sitting and playing, and one smile from her is worth all the terrible songs stuck in my head. #mumlife 😆 Anyway this beauty in front of me is MacKenzie Falls located in the incredible Grampians National Park. If you’re visiting Melbourne, I highly recommend a road trip out to this NP. #waterfallwednesday . . . . . . #momsofinstagram #visualsgang #roamtheplanet #exploremore #welivetoexplore #travelstoke #earthfocus #theglobewanderer #Speechlessplaces #gameoftones #beautifuldestinations #femmetravel #sheisnotlost #womentravel #fantastic_earth #damestravel #discoverearth #optoutside #stayandwander #girlsborntotravel #igWorldGlobal #dametraveler #travelgirlsgo #thetravelwomen #girlsthatwander #seeaustralia #gltlove @canonaustralia #australia
This weekend was a hard one. Our little Lia bean experienced her first high fever and required many extra cuddles. At one point in the middle of the night, while I was soothing her and cooling her down with a cold washcloth, I had flashbacks to my own childhood when my mom would do the same. Even though we’re thousands of miles apart, she is still there for me when I need her the most. I can only hope that my little girl still needs me when she’s in her 30’s. Here’s to all the parents out there who would do anything for their princes and princesses. 💕
This was my third time exploring the Great Ocean Road, but this trip we chose waterfall chasing over coastal drives. Diving into this freezing cold water and floating beneath this powerful source was my favorite moment of the trip. The feeling energized me in a way that one can only get from an experience with Mother Nature.
When the alarm sounds and the room is in complete darkness, I have an inner dialogue deciding if I should choose adventure or sleep. Ryan’s already up, full of energy and ready to go as I slowly make my way out of bed, cranky and complaining. Then I get outside and hear the first bird songs of the day, take in the absolute stillness and shudder as the morning chill wakes my body, and I realize it’s all worth it. With sleepy smiles we drive through the dark forest and make our way to this cliff edge to watch the world wake up. I feel the first rays of sun on my skin and thank myself for making the right decision.
Watching the sun set for the last time in 2018, and with that my final two intentions for 2019. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My third intention is to take more care of this planet. Being vegan isn’t enough anymore. I want to make better everyday choices, steering away from plastic, going bin shopping for groceries and buying clothes responsibly. I promise to pick up trash on the trails, say no to takeaway coffees if I forget my keepcup and bring my own containers for takeout. Whenever I think about our planet’s massive trash problem, I think of the movie, WALL-E. Let’s all do our part so our future generations don’t have to say goodbye to this planet we destroyed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The fourth intention is to take more care of me. Find time for self-care. Make time for yoga, for tea dates, for a quick run, to plan a girl’s hiking getaway, to go out dancing, to focus on my own writing and definitely time for long baths. As a new mom, these moments are hard to find as I share my body with my little bean. I wouldn’t change it for the world, but this year I need to give some extra love to my body and soul. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cheers if you got through this entire post. If you’re working on any intentions for the year, feel free to share below. x
Now that our Aussie holiday is over, I’ve been thinking a lot about the year ahead. So with a belly full of holiday gorging, I’d like to share my intentions for 2019. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rather than specific resolutions I probably won’t keep, I’ve chosen to concentrate on intentions that will help create a happy and healthy lifestyle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. More conscious living. Being in the moment full heartedly, aka put my phone down. With Instagram demanding more and more of time in order to grow your account, I’m finding myself easily frustrated and on it too much. Lia bean is already grabbing my phone whenever possible most likely because she sees me on it so often. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Surround myself with a positive and inspiring community, in person and in social media. To make plans with friends more often and meet more Mum and bub friends. I rarely push myself to meet new people and I hope to change that this year. On my social media, I want to open my apps for inspiration rather than feel envious or not good enough. Ask myself, are they authentic? Are they sharing honest, raw experiences or are they just in it for the numbers? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To be continued on my next post...
2018, you were the best year yet. We started the year off moving into our perfect, little tree house. Our little bean grew and grew in my belly while we explored more of NZ. On the 30th of May we met our beautiful daughter and she gave love a whole new meaning. We traveled across the globe visiting family and friends in the US, UK & Italy. I cried out of happiness finally experiencing Italy, a country I’ve wanted to visit for as long as I can remember and then the love of my life proposed as we watched the sun rise over Roma. We finished out the year celebrating Christmas in Melbourne with family and said goodbye to the year from the stunning Wilson’s Prom National Park, toasting to the new year with old and new friends. Happy New Year all, here’s to more adventures, more conscious living and more happiness.
Heading back to where it all started ♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We’re off to Melbourne for two weeks to spend Christmas with family, catch up with friends and explore more of Victoria. Wishing everyone a lovely and safe holiday 🎄
For the past few weeks, we’ve been trying to plan a trip back to this beautiful spot, but the weather has had different ideas. We’re determined to return after our Melbourne trip and show little bean our favorite mountain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So for now, I’ve edited an old one from the Pouakai Tarns using the @adobe @lightroom mobile app. Click the link in my bio to download the app for yourself. #AdobePartner
I call this multitasking on the trails 🤱🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For this shot I really wanted to bring out the lush green vegetation surrounding the bridge. So on my @adobe @lightroom mobile app, I used the color channels to highlight the greens and yellows. Check out my stories for before and after and how I edited the shot. #AdobePartner
Reminiscing over South Island road trips and Mt. Cook madness. Editing details (swipe for before): This shot was edited with @Lightroom mobile app. My goal when editing this image was to find balance between the highlights and shadows. With the last rays of the day hitting the top of Mt. Cook and the rest of the scene in the shade, the majority of the editing is done in the Lights section. By reducing the highlights, I was able to keep the detail on the bright mountain top. Download @lightroom mobile app and have yourself a go! #AdobePartner @adobe @lightroom
One of my favorite places to wake up at ☀️ To edit this dreamy shot, I’ve used @adobe @lightroom Mobile app. Swipe to see the before and after. This app makes it easy to edit on the go and now has many of the same features as the much loved desktop version. Check out my stories to see how I used the new healing tool and feel free to reach out with any questions about using the app! #AdobePartner @adobe @lightroom
It’s been only two months since our last big trip and @ryan_domenico and I are already planning our next trip back to the States. On top of celebrating @sara_horrocks + @the_neuroninja’s wedding, we are looking to fall in love with a few more National Parks drivable from Denver or LA. Any recommendations? Bean-friendly of course 🌲
