TONIGHT! 7 PM! We are proud to present Nikky Finney, who will read from her work commissioned for the Poetry Center's Art for Justice grant. Our opener for this event is Dr. Grace Gámez on behalf of the American Friends Service Committee. It's a going to be a chilly night, and heaters will be available, but remember to bundle up!
These kindred spirits are New in the Stacks! Check out “Nostalgia for a World Where We Can Live” by Monica Berlin from Southern Illinois University Press and “Bright and Hurtless” by Kristi Maxwell from Ahsahta Press!
Don’t know where to start in our library? The Random Poem Generator is here to help! You can find it at our front desk. Happy discovery & happy reading!
Our Publicity & Publications Coordinator is in Prescott this weekend thinking of Mary Oliver and “Wild Geese”
Just a reminder! We’re closed Saturday, January 19 through Monday, January 21 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
One of the exciting opportunities we're offering this season is a FREE class hosted by Joe Watson, one of our Art For Justice partners. Most incarcerated writers are locked up in facilities so rural that they rarely receive the level of mentorship and encouragement beginning writers can easily access in the free world. This monthly workshop aims to bridge the gap between the inside and outside by teaching community members to be helpful mentors and advocates for criminal justice reform.
Come check out our Reading & Lecture Series shelf to explore the works of our upcoming readers, including Daniel Borzutzky, Nicole Walker, Kiki Petrosino, Nikky Finney, Peggy Shumaker, and Maurya Simon.
Happy New Year! We were so excited to come back today, but unfortunately we’re having heating issues. We plan to reopen tomorrow, January 3, for our regular hours but will keep you updated on any changes.
Wondering about our holiday hours? We’re open through Friday next week! It’s the perfect time to curl up with a book.
