I am from Korea, but I have lived in many different countries including Spain, Venezuela, Panama, and United States. . What is calligraphy for you? Calligraphy is the zone where my perfectionism can dance as freely as it wishes to without any fear of making others feel uncomfortable. When I do calligraphy, I feel calm, I feel free, and I feel thrilled!!! . How long have you been doing calligraphy? I have been doing calligraphy for almost three years now! Time seems to stop when I do calligraphy and I admit that I was so obssessed with it. . How did you start as a calligrapher? I enjoyed Korean Calligraphy and making typography posters since elementary school and when I was introduced to a pointed nib three years ago, I wanted to learn the skill so I could skate on paper. . What are your favorite tools in calligraphy? My favorite tools are zebra g for copperplate and and brause broad nibs for italic and gothic. I also enjoy digital calligraphy with my Ipad pencil. . Who inspires you to do calligraphy? All the artists, calligraphers, and great works of art inspire me in every way and all the vivid colors in the world also give so much inspiration for my calligraphy art. I love anything beautiful and calligraphy completes them. . Who is/are the artist/s you look up to or inspired you to be a calligrapher? The calligraphy community in instagram drove me into this world and to choose my favorite, it would be Hailey's style which is so bright! However, I admire all the calligraphers out there who try their best to make further progress. I believe a calligraphey master is a forever student who studies and refines letter forms eternally. . What inspiring words or advice can you give to those who just starting calligraphy? Progress comes after furstration, so enjoy the process! . - Artist Profile - . Artist's Name: Dimaz Fakhruddin | @dimazfakhr_ . Where are you from? Malang, East Java, Indonesia. . What is calligraphy for you? For me, calligraphy is one of the way to express our feelings. In addition, the messages that I want to convey can be directly read, you can feel the emotions in every strokes and you can visually enjoy with the beauty of it's form. Sometimes, calligraphy is like therapy for me. It can be slowing me down and remind me to enjoy life more. . How long have you been doing calligraphy? I started learning calligraphy around mid 2014, I think is about 4 years now. . How did you start as a calligrapher? I started to be interested in typography since high school, and tried to make typography works since then. My introduction with calligraphy started around mid 2014 when I got bored with my works as an illustrator. At that time, calligraphy's vibe began to rise in Indonesia and when @kaligrafina established, it made me more interested in learning calligraphy. I learn a lot from the peoples in this community and they help me growing as a calligrapher until now. . What are your favorite tools in calligraphy? brush pen, obviously. 😊 . Who inspires you to do calligraphy? All my friends in @kaligrafina community. . Who are the artists you look up to or inspired you to be a calligrapher? They are @pascribe @lucabarcellona @theosone, I really admire them. And of course my friends @alib.isa @cosmas_adrian & @azam.r15 who taught me about consistency from their works. . What inspiring words or advice can you give to those who just starting calligraphy? Learn the basics, it's really important. Just do it slowly, focus with the details, and don't forget to enjoy every processes you make. Yeah, it will take a long time. just don't give up so quickly. Stop complaining. Because, when you already have a strong basic, you can explore anything with no worries. .
