Let’s talk about fear & failure... * How many times have you started something and then stopped? Maybe you stopped because it wasn’t happening fast enough, you disliked the immediate results, or maybe you faced negative feedback from others.🙋🏾♀️ I know I’ve experienced all of this...as a result I’ve quit many things I’ve started because of fear of failure. One major thing I’ve quit multiple times is pursuing my fitness business because this is hard! Making videos, doing newsletters, reaching out to people is all hard work! 😤 Especially because I’m honestly more introverted and private. So what’s my biggest fear right now...that I will stop again. That I will quit...because I fear failing. 😔 But this time I’m trying something different when those feelings set in, instead of quitting I’m pushing myself harder. I may take a day off but I won’t quit until I die 🤣🤗🤗or feel like I’m finished this task (right now I don’t know what finished looks like🤷🏾♀️). * These feelings also make me think of my clients and people I’ve talked to. Who have tried something and felt like they failed...but they really quit because they were afraid or not seeing immediate results. What if you tried one more time...and this time you gave it your all regardless of being afraid...because this time it could work? Would you try again? Would you take one more chance on yourself? Or continue being afraid because you weren’t successful before?🤔 * If you think of any goal you’ve achieved, I’m sure you faced some setbacks, negative feedback, even felt afraid. But you continued because you were focused and determined. Why don’t you apply that same focus and determination to every area of life. Imagine how amazing your life could be! 🤗😆 * So with 2019 approaching, I’m challenging everyone who’s reading this post to do whatever you’re avoiding because of fear of failure one more time. This time push yourself harder...especially when you want quit. You’ve got this!👍🏾 * Sorry for the long post, but if you’ve read until the end, then this was meant for you. I can’t imagine how many hours in the past I spent researching diets and workouts. The hours I spent excessively working out. The hours I spent at home because I was afraid to go out to eat with friends because I couldn’t control how my food was prepared. . I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in this life and that are on my bucket list. Something that’s been popping in my head recently is the thought that when my time on this earth is over, I’m most certain that I will not say: . “I wish I dieted more” “I wish I ate 1500 calories instead of 1800” “I wish I stayed home more and didn’t go out to eat” “I wish I spent more time in the gym” “I wish I spent more time researching skinny tea” . Don’t get me wrong, I love a good workout and I like the way I feel when I’ve been properly fueling my body but, there’s a different between living balanced and obsessing. What’s all the hype with charcoal in everything? When I think about charcoal, my first thought takes me back to my days in emergency medicine. We used activated charcoal in some instances of poisoning. The negative charge of charcoal bonds to positively charged molecules in the digestive system preventing their absorption and facilitating excretion. Like many things, more is not always better and we must take caution with anything we ingest. The fall season is symbolic for me in that it is about shedding what is not needed to make room for new life in the spring. Expect more from me in the coming months... For now, I will add a sprinkle of charcoal in my lemonade!

As we approach Thanksgiving Day and the Holiday Season, if I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to stop begrudgingly posing for pictures, or skipping them all together, and embrace the moment and memory you are preserving!!!📷🤳💁♀️😃 ••• I look at these two pictures of me from very different phases of my life and am filled with joy and gratitude for them both. The one from 2012 was taken by my husband less than 5 months after he had surgery to remove a large cancerous tumor from his liver. I admit, I wasn’t thrilled to pose for it then, but how can I not look back at it now and smile, knowing all that we’ve overcome? 😊 The one from earlier this month was a post-run selfie I took on the same day as the New York Marathon. I look at it and see the amount of joy that running has brought to me. 🏃♀️😊 ••• So, pose for pictures. Snap selfies. Take pictures of others. LIGHT & EASY SALAD BOWL: _ Here’s a quick lunch I whipped up today with what I had in my fridge! It’s light and simple, made with a few ingredients! _ I don’t know about you babes, but I’m not keen on recipes that require more than like 10 ingredients or involve random things I can only get from special “health food” stores. _ Here’s the recipe below: _ Shredded lettuce _ 2 small cans white albacore (you could also use tuna) _ 1/2 avocado _ 1/2 mango diced with onion, cucumber and cilantro _ Topped with 1/2 serving plain oyster crackers, crushed + 1/2 TBSP olive oil mixed with lemon for dressing! _ Do you like fruit in your salads? 🤣🤣. . I had all the intentions to go a week without coffee, but before I knew it I was onto my 3rd LB for the Monday. Oops. It’s Wednesday now and I’m starting to think my blood is 92% Ethiopian Blend.
Transformation . I am ready for it! After a full term, fit pregnancy, I am so proud of all my body has done to grow, and deliver such an amazing little babe. 💙 Now, a little over two weeks postpartum I am getting antsy. I am ready to get back to the grind! I am ready to whip this postpartum bod into shape! But first, I have some work to do in the nutrition department. I am sooooo ready to kick some bad habits that have creeped back into my daily life throughout my pregnancy and now postpartum nursing journey. Things like...eating a sweet treat after almost every meal 😳, eating waaayyy less veggies than normal, snacking mindlessly, and really just not prioritizing healthy foods and following a plan. . Starting next Monday I am beginning a Nutritional course that is going to reset my mind about food, eating and nutrition. I crave structure and I know that this is exactly what I need to get me back on track, and on the road to feeling vibrant, strong, satisfied, and energized ((as much as I can with a newborn 😜)). . So, here is where you come in! I can’t do this alone!!! I need some friends to do this with! I need you right alongside me, so we can cheer each other on! This is going to be hard, and I’m not going to lie, I’m kinda scared... Because I haven’t had to commit to a nutrition plan for about 9 months! 🙀 But I know with accountability and group support the journey is soooo much sweeter! 4 ladies have already claimed their spots and 💪🏻👊🏻 I have 1 spot 🌟left!
