Something different for #singlebarrel Saturday👌 Although JD was my first taste of American whiskey, JD Single Barrel was my first taste of a premium American whiskey😎 Before I found the Single Barrel I didn't know there was anything outside of JD black label and Jim Beam white label because Ireland's American whiskey market was non-existent at the time🤷♂️ Needless to say it opened the door to where I am today and as such I like to keep an open bottle of it in my collection at all times. This particular bottle was picked by Irish supermarket chain Supervalu and may just be the first barrel pick of an American whiskey in Ireland that's available through a retail store. I think it's a great barrel of JD Single Barrel with a nose featuring deep caramel, vanilla, dark fruit, baking spices, plenty of bananas, and a palate with tonnes of sweet dark cherries covered in brown sugar caramel, dark chocolate, and earthy baking spices. It's not a bourbon but it tastes so good I don't care! This 10 year old Smooth Ambler Limited Edition Single Barrel rye is one of the best rye whiskies I've ever tasted and is packed with MGP rye goodness. Today is a very special Michter's Monday! Not only am I sipping on this killer 2016 Michter's 10 bourbon but in 3 week's time I'll be joining Michter's in Louisville Kentucky for 3 days to tour their new Fort Nelson facility and to meet the awesome people behind the brand.
