I have been working with Suzanne since February 2018 and gosh has she come a long way. After the first 12 weeks she improved her lower limb strength by over 100% and lost 8cm around her waist. She recently had a speed bump having to endure another 6weeks of radiation. Throughout this time she managed to continue some training and last week she completed her treatment and on Monday she returned to the gym with a big smile and ready to get back into full training. There are some particular benefits for particular cancers, however in general, research tells us it; ⭐️ helps improve mood and reduce depression or anxiety associated with treatment ⭐️ reduces fatigue associated with treatment ⭐️ may reduce nausea associated with treatment ⭐️ reduces presence of other problems such as bone density loss, weight loss/weight gain, loss of muscle mass ⭐️ maintains or increases joint and muscle ‘flexibility’ as a result of surgery, radiotherapy or deconditioning ⭐️ increases survivorship ⭐️ provides a healthy social outlet I absolutely love to educate my clients undergoing cancer treatment of all of these benefits, it provides such empowerment. Postnatal depression begins sometime in the year after birth, and can be range in severity. It is nothing to be ashamed about, and is quite normal. • Exercising before, during and after pregnancy is beneficial for both Mum and Bub, and can assist in improving mood, sleep quality, energy and physical recovery from pregnancy and child birth. Continuing to exercise postnatally reduces risk of developing postnatal depression, and can function as a therapy to reduce severity of symptoms. A year ago today Kim came to OnePointHealth for her very first "post chemo" training session. Kim had been diagnosed with a GBM brain tumour 6 months prior. Today a year since Kim's first session, she is back for more "post chemo"exercise. The results the first time were amazing; reduced nausea, fatigue and a better chemo outcome. Unfortunately the tumour has returned but Kim is feeling strong and more determined than ever to fight this tumour again. As the shirt reads "I had brain surgery whats your excuse?" What a difference a year can make! 12 months ago Andrew had just come out of brain surgery to remove a stage 4 Glioblastoma (brain tumour) and was about to commence chemotherapy. Less than 12months on he completed the 10km Bridge to Brisbane with the new nick name of BIG UNIT. How amazing is that!!!! Andrew (Big Unit) has been working with me twice a week since during chemotherapy and hasn't missed a single session. His dedication and motivation has been incredible he never thinks twice about pushing himself and prides himself on his poker face no matter what I give him! Fitball squats with a bicep curl are a great full body exercise. The inclusion of the band helps give Dani awareness to keep her knees tracking correctly and get that bum working 🍑. The fitball takes some load off her knees and the bicep curl adds an upper body element. 💪💪 “Chemo brain” is a term that gets thrown around a lot within this industry and is something Dani has suffered from. Post chemotherapy Marti’s balance has declined ⭐️ Bosu Ball step ups place a larger demand on the bodies proprioceptive system and is an advanced balance exercise. ⭐️ This increases the work within the foot and ankle along with working the hip stabilisers ⭐️ Focus on driving through the heel and keeping hips level 💪 Give 3x8es side a go and see how well you can stay balanced.
