Had a great time at the ESSA conference last week in Brisbane, where I was able to learn from some of the best in the industry. Love seeing exercise being used during chemotherapy as a way to counteract symptoms while also giving some control back to cancer survivors over a part of their treatment. #essa #exercisephysiology #exercisecancer #exercise

A year ago today Kim came to OnePointHealth for her very first "post chemo" training session. Kim had been diagnosed with a GBM brain tumour 6 months prior. Today a year since Kim's first session, she is back for more "post chemo"exercise. The results the first time were amazing; reduced nausea, fatigue and a better chemo outcome. Unfortunately the tumour has returned but Kim is feeling strong and more determined than ever to fight this tumour again. As the shirt reads "I had brain surgery whats your excuse?" Go Kim - we are all behind you!

Did you know that postnatal depression is more common that you think? More than 1 in 7 new mums and up to 1 in 10 new dads experience postnatal depression. Postnatal depression begins sometime in the year after birth, and can be range in severity. It is nothing to be ashamed about, and is quite normal. • Exercising before, during and after pregnancy is beneficial for both Mum and Bub, and can assist in improving mood, sleep quality, energy and physical recovery from pregnancy and child birth. Continuing to exercise postnatally reduces risk of developing postnatal depression, and can function as a therapy to reduce severity of symptoms. If you are feeling uncertain about any pre or postnatal needs, we can help! Give our friendly clinic a call to find out more about the range of services we offer. 🤰🏻
Did you know exercise during cancer treatment is very beneficial? There are some particular benefits for particular cancers, however in general, research tells us it; ⭐️ helps improve mood and reduce depression or anxiety associated with treatment ⭐️ reduces fatigue associated with treatment ⭐️ may reduce nausea associated with treatment ⭐️ reduces presence of other problems such as bone density loss, weight loss/weight gain, loss of muscle mass ⭐️ maintains or increases joint and muscle ‘flexibility’ as a result of surgery, radiotherapy or deconditioning ⭐️ increases survivorship ⭐️ provides a healthy social outlet I absolutely love to educate my clients undergoing cancer treatment of all of these benefits, it provides such empowerment. Some choose to do clinical Pilates, some choose a guided home program from myself, others I can help to find the local community class. #exercise #cancer #cancerwarrior #cancersupporter #exercisecancer #research #womenshealth #menshealth #exercisemotivation #recovery #recoveryispossible #physiotherapist #physiolove #georgestreet #eastfremantle #georgesteastfreo #cottesloe

Fitball squats with a bicep curl are a great full body exercise. The inclusion of the band helps give Dani awareness to keep her knees tracking correctly and get that bum working 🍑. The fitball takes some load off her knees and the bicep curl adds an upper body element. 💪💪 “Chemo brain” is a term that gets thrown around a lot within this industry and is something Dani has suffered from. We have found including exercises such as this that require full body coordination and challenge her brain have improved her cognitive abilities and is now able to count her own reps initially this was a struggle. 🧠🧠🧠🧠 Dani deserves a massive hi-five for the improvements she has made so far 🙌🙌🙌 Message me today to find out how to include exercises like this in you exercise routine and kick cancers butt
