Men at work! Meet two of my closest friends..... Graydon Parrish (if you know anything about art, you already know him. And Paul Giamatti (if you have watched a movie in the last two decades... you already know him). The three of us are working on an epic project for the Denali Foundation! The Denali foundation is a non profit I started after my brother passed away. He was an artist, and saw the world through a creative lens. For those of you who don’t know, art supplies are super expensive- art is also one of the number one things to go when budget cuts hit schools. Over the last four years of this foundation, our board has built a strong network and gifted art supplies to numerous schools and teachers lacking support. Although our foundation predominately supports physical art supplies and visual arts, art comes in all forms. One of the greatest actors of our generation, meets one of the greatest artists of our generation. They are pairing up to help our little foundation make a difference. Super stocked! More details soon 👨🎨👨🎨👨🎨 #denalifoundation #paulgiamatti #graydonparrish #coolkidsclub
Tonight was super special for me. My 97year old omi (dads mum) came and sat front row at my REI book reading. Followed by a beautiful dinner. What incredible energy she has, and doesn’t she look amazing?? We are roommates at the Claremont Hotel tonight.... room 353 watch out.... it’s slumber party time! 💃 💃 💃
I may be on crutches for another week, but that’s not going to stop this tour. Nor Cal Bay Area I’m coming for you, in conjunction with REI✍️. Tonight I’ll be signing books in Mountain View, followed by Saratoga and Berkeley. Link in bio. . . Ps. I already know I have dirty feet 👣 Always been a bit of a dirty girl 👩🏻🌾 #booktour #rei #bayarea
. My lunch dates. 🍴 It’s always good to have a long chat with my dad and brother. Our conversations aren’t always at a gravestone, most of the time they are actually in the mountains ⛰ ⛰⛰. Where responses are sensed with the wind 💨. For those of you who are easily squeamish, don’t worry I’m not eating on top of dead bodies🙄. This is one of six Memorial sites for my dad and Denali. Because they were killed on a mountain, and their bodies were never found, different Memorial’s took place around the world. This site was one of them🥀.You know you left an impression, when you have six memorial sites spread out across the planet. Pretty lucky to call them family ❤️. #legendsneverdie
Find people who inspire you, and form lifelong friendships with them. The people that you surround yourself with, become a defining part of who you will become. I learned this lesson the hard way, and as a result- have a lot of acquaintances, but only few true and meaningful friendships. This is one of my best friends in the whole wide 🌎. Someone who has an incredibly broad mind and can always show me another perspective to a situation. I have learned so much through our friendship and am so proud of her and her recent project to create art through her dance. She will be publishing a book with the images inspired by her broken heart. Make sure to follow @tnoely On her journey. She is my #femalecrushfriday!
My @gopro was essentially my therapist for the 28 days that I spent on my 🚲 across New Zealand. When I completed my solo cycle ride, I had an abundance of footage and I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. So, upon my return to LA, I had coffee with my good friend @mrpaulmarchand. Paul happens to be one of the foremost directors and producers in the documentary industry. I handed him the footage and told him to do whatever he wanted with it.... Paul created 18minutes of Art. I cannot thank him enough. This captured story of my adventure is screened with my readings through the remainder of my REI tour. For more tour details visit my website. Every year for the last three years, I have escaped to Ton Sai for two weeks. There is something truly magical about that land. A climbers oasis that moves the soul, and ignites a passion for sweat production. When I have a busy day in the office, and am in need of some creative motivation....I just close my eyes, lick my lips and I can still taste the Ton Sai sweat. Looking forward to being back here soon. . 🌴.🌴 .🌴 . #tonsai #thailand #tonsaibay #climbon #community
I’ve spent the last six days on crutches, trying to heal and injury that happened at LAX. I’m on my book tour for another month, but have had to slow down my schedule to allow for healing. The last five nights in Seattle, have been the first time I’ve been in the same bed for five nights straight in over a year. Sometimes an accident happens in order to force us to slow down, when we are been moving too fast. Mother nature’s way of telling us to chill out - because when you live a pretty wild life you have to be fully in the moment and aware. I’m just incredibly lucky this injury won’t be permanent damage. The way things are looking my foot (which currently holds 11 stitches) will heal up nicely in the next week, allowing me to get back to my schedule for the remainder of the tour. This time of healing it is giving me a chance to sit back and reflect on the awesome things I’ve done in the past few months, and concentrate on the many more incredible adventures ahead. 🧡💛❤️🧡
. Five years ago today I got a call that would change my life forever. Five years ago today, I lost my two best adventure buddies. Five years ago today an avalanche swept down the steep slopes of K2 and with it carried two incredible humans. Their souls left to venture into the next world. I spent last night not being able to sleep, and the morning looking through old family photos. Moments of pure happiness captured in these images. Not every family can say that. Although it's a little hard to breath today. And I write this with the inability to say it out loud, but only through my words. My tears are mixed with smiles. Smiles because I know how rare it is to be able to say that I had the best big brother. Never teased, tormented or tattled. From the moment I was born, Denali always cared, loved and encouraged me. Smiles because I know how rare it is to say I had to coolest dad. Literally, my dad climbed the tallest mountains in the world, was a PJ in the Air Force and won every marathon he entered. Denali always admired dad, but not me, dad and I were too much alike, you see. I remember the moment we summitted Mount Whitney together as a family, Denali ran up to give dad a big hug. But not me, I wiped the blood from my eight-year-old nose and went over to look at the view. As adolescents we tend to nit pick and concentrate on minute imperfections in our childhood. But the beauty about becoming an adult is the ability to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Although there are many moments where I wish I could experience adulthood with my big brother, in my bigger picture, I would not change one single thing about the way things played out, I would not change a single thing about this family of mine. Not one. .💛.
Second REI ✅ 16 to go! . At some point in every writer’s life, they walk into a signing and there is one person, if they’re lucky maybe two. And chances are you know those two people. However, I’ve always gone by the philosophy of whether it is one person or 100, give the same performance. . It hit me tonight, when I was standing in front of a room full of total strangers....how incredibly lucky I am to be doing what I love, traveling the world, and sharing my writing! ✍️. . If I’m coming to a city near you on my REI tour, it would mean a lot to me to look out into the audience and see a friendly face, even if you’re the only one in the room 😉. . My dear friend, and iconic photographer Dean Fidelman has been producing the Stone Nudes Calendars for 19years now! Capturing the raw human body in Mother Nature. . I was honored to be featured in the last calendar. This photo was shot in Yosemite, during winter.... my nipples were frozen stiff, but thanks to the social media police you guys just get to enjoy the beautiful nipple-less version. . This will be the final year that Dean will produce Stone Nudes. The 20th anniversary needs your help. I ask that you please consider supporting this incredible art and wonderful project! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deanfidelman/stone-nudes-2019-20th-anniversary-calendar-final-e# #stonenudes #nakedinnature
