Medellín Metálica 👽 Exploring Medellín this week has been a huge honour. We’ve felt safe walking around and are so humbled when locals take time to say hello and welcome us to their city. It was not very long ago that Medellín was considered the ‘most dangerous city in the world’ but now, with leafy parks, democratic art installations and elections in progress, it is truly a city proud to reintroduce itself to the world. 💛💛💙❤️
Gimmie that long boi trash panda 🐼 Someone let me hold their Pet Coati and I may or may not have cried when it took a snooze in my lap 💛
Welcome to (Amazon) jungle 🎶🐍🌴🎶 This week’s theme song brought to you by Deet®️ 🦗🦂🕷🐜🦇 But really! We made it to Iquitos, the Peruvian town only accessible by plane or boat and gateway to the Amazon River and Rainforest. The market sells croc tails, magic potions and unidentifiable, headless mammals. Things are weird but we’re kinda into it.
Holy Machu Pichu 🤘🏽This world wonder has been on our bucket list forever and we are finally here! We biked, rafted and trekked through the jungle for five days to get up to the ruins for a 4:30am start.... with about 2500 of our closest friends. There were posing llamas, steep terraces, mysterious stone workings and a daunting 1000m scramble up to Cerro Machu Pichu waiting for us. Even with the crowds, this world wonder had a powerful energy and surpassed our expectations.
Welcome to the jungle 🌴 We are on the road to Machu Pichu and instead of trekking a scenic, stunning and strenuous route (as per usual), we opted of the ‘Gahhhp Yearrr’ party route. We have dodged cars on a 3000m downhill mountain bike decent, white water rafted the Urabamba River and looked like a complete knobs whilst zip lining upside down. Cool. Instead of showing twenty year olds how to party we are just showing them outdated dance moves and dishing out unsolicited life advice. 💅🏽 It’s pretty and i almost died from cute overload when a monkey, dog and coti (long nose jungle trash panda) all played together and then the cori fell asleep in my lap. 😍
Rainbow Mountain 🌈 has a deceivingly cheery name for a 6k slog up to 5000m with about 500 of your closest friends and two alpacas. First, you’ll need to ascend to 4400m (14,189 feet) to start your 6.3km trek.... straight up, up, up. Over three hours you’ll huff and puff your way to 5200m/17,060 feet (the same altitude as Everest Base Camp!) to get a view of the insanely colored Red Valley. It will hurt. Someone in your group will get altitude sickness.... not calling Anyone out but.....
This is the face of pure joy. HOLIDAY HAS OFFICIALLY PEAKED - these two cute kiddos let me hold their one week old (😬) lil baby alpaca. One. Step. Closer. To becoming a llama mama. Truth be told it very well could have been a goat... but i loved it! 🐐
Looking beneath the surface in Peru’s Colca Canyon. How is this entire country so gorgeous? 🇵🇪
