What do you get the person who has everything, especially if they're a bad person? Well, Calgary's @boldfacedgoods sent me their Good Gifts for Bad People subscription box and it's so wonderfully rude, I couldn't be happier. :-). They also sent me a 20% discount for anything on their site, just use "Mike20". And please be sure to shop and support local this holiday season!
*NEW COFFEE SHOP ALERT!* @kxcalgary has opened a new coffee shop with a cause and it's such a peaceful place to get some work done right downtown. On top of serving delicious hot drinks, @sanctuary4yyc teaches volunteer skills that increase odds of employability (think new Canadians wanting to learn how to become a barista), plus they pay their full time employees a living wage and part-time employees make more than minimum wage. So much more than a cup of coffee.
This photo was taken the day before the Vancouver Winter Olympics. On Tuesday, Calgarians head to the polls to vote Yes or No on the #calgary2026 Winter Olympics. I voted Yes already. And I think you should too. Things cost money and billions of dollars is complicated. But I trust our levels of government to manage it properly. I know some of the people who've told me to trust this deal and if they told me to jump off a bridge, I probably would. I trust their vision and their ethics. I think it would be so exciting to see how Calgary grows and adapts as we prepare to welcome the 2026 winter games. Hopefully you've noticed that I love celebrating this city. We are so much more than cowboy hats and pancake breakfasts. Now it's time to show the world. Vote "Yes" on Tuesday. The polls will be open from 8AM - 8PM on this Tuesday, November 13th. Make a plan to vote.
Before digital pictures, did people just spend thousands of dollars a month buying film to take pictures of their cat?
So thrilled to be invited to tonight's #litgala at the new @calgarylibrary! A giant thank you to @ewmenswear for helping find a perfect outfit to (hopefully) fit in with this very fancy crowd. I think this is the first time I've ever had the full tailor experience and who knew wearing clothes that fit properly made clothes so fun. The suit is a Canadian-made @jackvictorstyle. (Disclosure: I paid for the outfit, but Ed Williams gave me a discount.)
