I need to get this off my chest: If you don’t want to live a mediocre life with a mediocre income... if you don’t want your life to be filled with regret over the chances you never took... if the years are passing by and you still aren’t able to check things off your bucket list... then you must leave your 9-5. Wow, I said it. Of course this is just my experience... But with a 9-5 you’re spending your precious and limited time, day in and day out, working in a system that controls you. There’s a cap on the amount of abundance you can create. Your work may not be fulfilling you. And most likely, you’re stuck in a location. I couldn’t live that way. And believe me when I say I was terrified to leap from certainty to a world of unknown. I didn’t know what I was doing. But as I sit here in my 30s, with my son turning 4 this summer, I’ll tell you that life is absolutely flying by. FLYING. Stop putting off the life you want to live. Stop settling. Stop limiting your potential and passion. Stop capping the abundance you can bring into your life. Bet on yourself.
Everything in this moment is exactly how it needs to be... lean into that because it’s your reality whether you like it or not. What we can change is whatever happens next. Set your intentions and focus your energy there instead... it’s wide open.
While common, it’s not normal to not feel good. If you’re tired, low energy, stressed, anxious, or just down, don’t accept that. It doesn’t mean you’re getting old (when i hear people who are like 35 years YOUNG tell me that they’re slowing down, I’m just like, no!). It’s a sign that something isn’t working, and something needs to go. You were meant to feel happy, vibrant, energetic, and full of life. Please don’t settle for anything else.
My husband and I went out for burritos tonight and got into one of our long conversations about life. Burritos and life talks are pretty common in this house. We are super passionate about both! We talked about opportunities and choices, and how neither of us until recent years really understood that we could actually live life on our terms. We didn’t have to be part of the system, or be mainstream in our decisions. It’s like we had to unlearn everything we had learned along the way to let our intuitions guide us. And opportunities to live abundantly and freely (both time + location)?? ...I had zero idea that that was a real thing until early 2019. Seriously, if you asked me a year ago i would have laughed and said “yeah right.” Again, I had to unlearn what I had been previously taught. To work smarter, not harder. Sometimes I wish I had figured it out a bit sooner, but I trust the divine timing of my life. I don’t think I was ready before. What lessons are you unlearning?
If you’ve got a case of the Monday’s I feel you... been there, done that, and no intention of ever going back. And I say this to be fully supportive of you, and what you’ve got going on. Bills, mortgages, children, responsibilities, a future to be able to afford, and whatever else life throws your way. A 9-5 can certainly yield security, but it can also feel like a total trap - not for everyone, but some of us (maybe a lot of us?). And it can be hard hearing of people who successfully escaped... if you’ve ever eye rolled to someone’s success story I’ve been there and done that, too. But what if you used that success story as living proof of what you can achieve? What if you followed suit and ditched the grind to live life on your terms, too? What would your life look like? How would you feel? This isn’t about accepting being broke, having nothing to your name, or having zero security either. Just the opposite. When you’re your own boss, there’s no cap on your success. There’s no one above you calling the shots about your scope of work, projects, or paycheck. Abundance + freedom are 100% achievable if you start planning today, putting alternatives into action, and commit to your success. The sky is the limit and your potential is endless!
This was what my weekend looked like. SUP, sun, swim, repeat... tacos were in there somewhere, too. Living out this life that I’m so happy I’ve created. Its sooo good to be alive.
You’re not bound to your past decisions. You’re not a culmination of everything that’s ever happened to you. You’re not your childhood. You’re not who you were yesterday. You’re not a label. You’re not your body. You are a constant work in progress, evolving, changing, with limitless potential beyond anything you could ever imagine... Put on this earth as a human to be happy, enjoy, and experience your heart out. Each moment here is truly a gift.
In case you may have forgotten: You are capable of accomplishing all the things. You don’t need to settle for whatever is convenient or whatever junk society tells you is expected. Dig deep, move mountains, and create some epic shit that matters deeply to you. You’re here for a reason.
Ed and I are celebrating 9 years of marriage together this summer! #ad I love going through life with him. He's my favorite guy to explore with, take photos with (he gets my need to stop everything I'm doing when I see something beautiful), watch sunset with, and share some @cervezapatagonia.us with! #cervezapatagonia
Grateful for our beach life. Grateful that this is what Wednesdays look like. Grateful that I can see limitless potential while looking ahead. And grateful for every mistake, loss, screw up, and fail I’ve made along the way that actually led me here! They had to happen. I trust it all.
I’ve learned not to care about a lot of things. Because the more time I waste caring about fluff, the less I can care about the stuff that really matters to me. There’s only so many hours in the day, and I choose where my energy goes.
Mondays are my favorite work day now. I have two team calls that inspire me, support me, train me, and lift me up. I had no idea when I ventured down this path that I’d not only gain an incredible business, but a freaking family. I used to think being an entrepreneur who works from their laptop could get a bit lonely, actually it kinda was lonely for a few years there, but not here. So so so grateful for this movement, the fact that I stumbled upon it when I did, and the limitless possibilities of where it’s going. Holy wow. #thankyouthankyouthankyou
An old friend from my hometown reminded me of a conversation we must have had 15 years ago... where I told her it was my dream to live somewhere warm by the beach, like Florida! 15 years. To you all it looks like one day I just picked up and moved to the beach, but my story runs so much deeper. Instagram makes everything look like an over night success. But the reality are years of hardships, challenges, and growth. If you’re in those tough times right now, the ones that spark real change, I’m excited for you and what’s to come. #youvegotthis
We have to get out of our comfort zones if we want to live the lives of our dreams. It just won’t happen from a place of comfort. Our future is created by every single choice that we make in every moment of life. Everything you do in the now makes for that future you want. Learn how to get out of your own way and be unstoppable.
What do you dream of doing in life? What do you want to get out of your time on this planet? And how do you want to help make it better than when you got here?
Several years ago I thought there was something wrong with me because I couldn’t stand waking up each day. I cried on my way to work, I couldn’t wait to go home, and I lived for the weekends. I had a lot of responsibility, and I took the work I did so seriously. It was a job I had spent years training for... so what was the matter with me? Did I need medication? More vitamin D? Therapy? Was something off internally? What was it? I will be forever grateful for Instagram for connecting me to people who were living my dream life. This app showed me what was out there, and that seed is what eventually turned into resigning from my job, selling my home, and moving 1200+ miles away to the beach. We are all different, and our work and schedules should reflect that. I fully believe the 9-5 isn’t for everyone, and that we live in a day and age where the internet makes being your own boss and working on your terms easier than ever. If you have the same calling as me, but feel stuck, just stop for a second. Breathe. What you want is 100% attainable, but you have to start taking action and connecting with people (just like I did) who feel the same way. Learn from those who are doing what you want to be doing. Check out the link in my bio, and see if the opportunity I’ve had is the same one for you. And even if it’s not, and there’s something else - just know that I believe in you and your dream. With LOVE, Lindsay
