Sunset SUP session in February! #ad 🌊 I longed for a life by the beach. For the ability to take my board out year round, to #wanderwherethewifiisweak, to hang with the dolphins, rays, and manatees... It’s been 3.5 years since we sold our home in New England, quit our jobs, and donated our stuff to make this what winter looks like for us. Sometimes I still can’t believe this is real life. Like did I really do this? Life’s too short not to live where you love. Part 1 of 3. #wanderwherethewifiisweak @sharealittlesunshine #lovefl
Sometimes Instagram just feels like a place where we hear how awesome everyone is, and we leave feeling like we suck at life. I’m here this morning to tell you I’m tired, had a really hard week in business, struggled with motherhood, and cried a few times. I’m not looking for words of encouragement, and I don’t feel down at all - this is just NORMAL life... not negative. Normal. We’ve put on blinders that everything should always be amazing, and this space can play into that. Sometimes when i tell people about real life they immediately think something is wrong or needs to be fixed. It’s not about fixing it. It’s about rolling with the daily stuff, stressors, etc, and not reading to deeply into them. Not having a pity party because everyone on Instagram seems to be having 5 figure months, traveling the world, living in stylish homes, and has super kids. Be careful with what you believe. #reallife
I’m learning to embrace the slower seasons of life. These times are essential, and just as productive in their own right as the fast paced craziness. Don’t trick yourself into thinking they’re a waste or not times of growth. Just the opposite really. Lean into it. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
Feeling lost doesn’t have to be a bad thing... if we always knew where we were going how or why would we make changes to our lives? Changes that can lead us to amazing experiences, a better lifestyle, more and more love. Don’t get down on yourself if you’re not content in the space you’re in. Use it to find someplace better. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
A fun little project I shot today for @liquidiv - a brand I truly love and use (and am sad when I run out of)! If you check out my stories today, you can see my office views. I got asked some photography questions in my DMs... Happy to answer more questions - just comment below, and I will get back to you! Now for fish tacos and a lazy night in. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
You just can’t let the image of how you want life to look one day ruin all that you’ve got going for you today. In my quest to build a life that I’m thrilled about, I’ve at times struggled with letting that “lifestyle goal” hurt how I feel in the present. As in, it sucks to not be living that way now, and will I ever get there? Just remember that if you’re unhappy today, and you don’t change your mindset, you’ll be unhappy then, too. #wanderwherethewifiisweak PS - sunset is from last summer. I stumbled upon some shots I snapped walking back to my car after a session. It was about 20 minutes after the sun went down.
Coming back from a blogging hiatus, and sharing how I’ve felt extremely disconnected recently... a loss for words, what I love most to share, and so forth. Sometimes labeling ourselves makes us lose ourselves even more. Link up above. Let me know if you can relate. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
Happiness isn’t a choice, but the majority of what can lead to happiness is a choice. It’s always up to you!
I’m pretty sure most of my stress would be gone if I could just be a little more patient with the process. I’m a chronic “think I know what I want and want it now” kinda person. But... there’s nothing better than really being present and experiencing the journey. When I’ve done this, I’ve stumbled upon so many sweet ideas and experiences because I didn’t try to skip over and rush things... Things I would have totally missed had I tried to force it. Good stuff takes time. Trust the process. #wanderwherethewifiisweak #trusttheprocess #selfportrait
I’ve recently gone through two years worth of photos. I’m talking thousands and thousands of photos for a little project I’m working on for the print shop. You know what I couldn’t believe? That I remembered shooting them all. I remembered the day, how I was feeling, who I was with, what was going on in my life, sometimes even what I was wearing or ate... these photos are a journal for me. A place where I’ve documented it all. It’s all here. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
That dude out there is my husband. We met in college, were buddies, and when the timing was finally right we made out. Been together ever since. Got married in 2010. Today is nothing significant for us, a regular day. After 10 years of being together I’ll say it’s those ordinary days that matter more than anything. Talk about your feelings. Share your dreams. Support each other even when one of you screws up. Go out for burritos. Be honest when you’re annoying each other. Make sacrifices. Kiss and hold hands a lot. #wanderwherethewifiisweak together. #loveyoued
Playing in the print shop today! Which is one of my favorite places to play btw. That’s Alaina on the right, and an unnamed print not officially in the shop yet on the left (what should I name her?). My brain is going in a million different directions at the moment. So. Many. Ideas. Going to make some tea, and hopefully shut it down! #lhbprintshop
Those sand patterns. That water. I just eat this up. I fell in love with this place immediately, and knew I had to call it home. Life looks so different, and I’m forever grateful for that little nudge this beach gave me to make my life what I want it to be... creative, simple, and full of love. Not perfect, but awesome. #wanderwherethewifiisweak
I get so excited to deliver galleries... hitting the send button is full of emotion. Even the anticipation that I’ll be sharing a gallery soon stirs up feelings for me. We spend days, sometimes weeks, working on putting a gallery together. Pouring our everything into our work to create something beautiful and meaningful. A custom collection of art that is so deeply personal. I’m not sure how else to describe it. Here’s another little sneak peak from a gallery that is heading out soon. I love this moment of these two!
Instagram, the creative space for sharing that has zero rules and is supposed to be inspiring + fun. You don’t have to post for growth, post for popular, share whatever you’ve programmed yourself to share, or spend another second focusing on “feed goals.” Make this space what you want it to be. Be inspired. Share. Connect. Allow yourself to evolve in front of the world. It’s okay if it’s messy. #wanderwherethewifiisweak PS - photo is from my last road trip. Planning the next own soon!
