Decisions... one of the things it’s easy to underestimate when taking on a renovation project is just how many of them there are to make. From choosing where to locate the boiler to radiator valves and door knobs even seemingly small things can have a considerable impact on how a space looks, feels and works. And then there are the bigger and more exciting decisions like windows and doors. We want to fit Crittall style doors in the kitchen and living room so yesterday we went to look at these by @hedgehogaluminium at @skyhousedesigncentre . We were pretty impressed but would love to check out a few more options before making our final decision. Any recommendations?
You can always rely on whippets to seek out the comfiest spot in the house. Today’s location of choice is my new cotton throw from @zigzagzurich . Designed by Nicole & Petra Kapitza of design studio Kapitza it’s part of the ZigZagZurich’s artists blankets collection which is definitely worth checking out. It includes some really strong geometric and typographic designs jacquard woven from super fine cotton. I think Albert has definitely given this one his seal of approval. [gifted]
29 degrees again this afternoon. I’ll be scheduling in a daily siesta if this heatwave continues for much longer. I’m spending the evening nestled in fresh white cotton sheets sifting through swatches for our next room makeover and swooning over this beautiful @rado True Blaze watch. I’m excited to be partnering with them to show you some of their designer collaborations over the next couple of months. They will literally have to prise this one off my wrist - it instantly elevates whatever I’m wearing. #ad #Rado #DesignerInspiration #TrueBlaze
My design philosophy, both here on Design Hunter and when it comes to choosing things for our home, has always been to focus on considered pieces that stand the test of time, so I’m really happy to share some styling and photography work I did recently for British Design Shop. Their focus is on British made pieces by skilled craftsmen using the most select materials and they are based just down the road from me here in Warwickshire. I love working with local companies so I was delighted to be asked to create some images for their website launch. They’ve just gone live and you can find them at @british_design_shop . They have some really beautiful pieces so do pop over and take a look. #BritishDesignShop #BDS
When you stumble across the perfect light at golden hour - a capture from our stay in Suffolk last week. In other news, I’ve written a blog post! I know, it’s been a while hasn’t it? I hadn’t intended to take such a long blog break but you know, life gets in the way sometimes. Anyway, it feels good to be back and if you head on over to the blog there’s a post all about our new house if you fancy a read. Have a lovely evening insta friends.
Waking up to this view back home this morning and a new piece of art waiting to be framed. We found this beautiful etching by @claregrossman in a gallery in Aldeburgh yesterday and Graham treated me to it as a late birthday present. I’d been looking for something special for ages and I just fell in love with it when I saw it. #dhprojecthouse
A lovely treat for my DIY ravaged hands from @lelabofragrances [gifted] - a deliciously light, delicate scent and it absorbs like a dream. Also can we just take a moment to appreciate our new floorboards - the result of an application of lye, several coats of oil, a lot of sweat and even a few tears, but thankfully no blood. #lelabofragrances
