Happy birthday Babe. You do so much for so many of us and never ask anything in return. Enjoy your day. To more travels, more love, more arguments, and more years. ❤️
My mind has been stuck on this quote for a few weeks. It couldn’t be more true. “The battles that count aren't the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself - the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us - that's where it's at. “- Jesse Owens after the 1936 Olympic Games.
Thanksgiving has always been a special holiday for me. Even when it was just the three of us my mother always made a feast (ask my friends who’ve joined over the years). It’s been a while since we’ve all been able to sit down to a home cooked meal from MOM, but my expression is how I feel waiting for dinner. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
Last night I had the privilege of taking part in a conversation moderated by @dougmelville for @TBWA “Disruptor Series”. I spoke about how success isn’t elusive and really is a choice based on our perspective, focus, and purpose. Too often today it feels like we live in a announcement era... doing just to do, to keep up, or to say we did it first. I hope the audience took away that to excel we (myself included) have to be less concerned about spreading our attention to what’s topical and more concerned with staying true to ourselves and our crafts. Much thanks to @linkedin @TBWA my family & friends, and especially Doug for bringing me in for this. It truly takes a village. #studioD
A time of change, focus, reflection, and growth. Always the most inspiring time of the year. Thank you Autumn for the blessings you bring (foliage, warmth), the beauty you provide, and the action you inspire (a simple stroll feels breathtaking). My perspective and focus feels sharper than ever. Watch what we do next. Images taken by @emilymaye during an outdoor training session with @e3sports
I’m having an incredible time at the Youth Olympic Games sharing my experiences in sport and providing athletes with resources to perform at a high level while growing as people. Much love to the IOC & FIE for appointing me as an Athlete Role Model for the games. Beyond Grateful! Thank you for capturing these moments Augosto.
I met Musa in Chipakata Village outside of Lusaka, Zambia last year while working with @14plusnyc. We didn’t speak the same language but communicated through looks, laughs, and music. This coming Thursday @joseph14plusnyc @nchimunya and the @14plusnyc team will be holding their annual Gala to raise funds for children’s education in Zambia. Follow the link in my bio to learn more, attend, and support 14 Plus’ mission to empower youth through education in Zambia. Photos by Rog & Bee Walker.
You challenge me every day as an athlete and a man. You’re unforgiving and relentless. Most importantly you’ve taught me the value of the long game. Marathons not Sprints. Adversity leads to triumph. Confidence over arrogance. It’s bigger than fencing. All about real life lessons and real life growth.
