BJPL students Tianna Maldonado, Mitchell Harris-Dennis, Kayla Beltran, and Tony Baizan-Garcia spent their summer photographing community gardens throughout the Bronx. This work is now being exhibited in the Ross Gallery at the New York Botanical Garden as part of a celebration of Bronx Green-Up's 30 year anniversary. The students were honored last week at the Bronx Green-Up 30th anniversary ceremony in front of an audience of more than 100 people, including NYBG staff and garden members and volunteers. "Putting Down Roots: Celebrating 30 Years of Bronx Green Up" will be on view in the Ross Gallery at the New York Botanical Garden through April 28, 2019. BJPL students submitting college applications this afternoon! We have been working intensively with our 12th grade students this fall: they’ve received one-on-one counseling with Rhynna Santos, attended a FAFSA evening, had a personal essay workshop with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Barry Bearak, and have received extensive support from volunteers (thank you!) and staff in preparing their essays and applications during Saturday open labs. We are proud of our hard-working students—they are almost at the finish line. #bronxjuniorphotoleague #everydaybronx #collegesuccess #airhornorgohome

TONIGHT 7:30PM: In @propublica's "Unprotected", an acclaimed American charity said it was saving some of the world’s most vulnerable girls from sexual exploitation. Then the girls were raped, and that was only the beginning. It’s a searing story, one whose full consequences are only now coming to light. Post screening discussion with co-director’s @nadiasussman and @kathleenflynn, and reporter Finlay Young.
