Однако, то лето было слишком жарким, а сильный ветер 💨 помогал распространению пламени. ⠀ 4 сентября половина Лондона была в огне. Великий пожар 🔥 охватил 13 000 домов, 84 церкви и множество зданий. Его свет можно было увидеть на расстоянии в 50 км! Сам король Карл II помогал пожарным, передавая им ведра с водой. ⠀ Жара, созданная огнем, была настолько велика, что свинцовая крыша собора Святого Павла расплавилась, а сам собор рухнул. К счастью, пожар не дошел до Лондонского Тауэра 🏰 и он смог избежать такой участи. ⠀ 6 сентября огонь был полностью потушен. При пожаре было уничтожено 80% города. Архитектору сэру Кристоферу Рену поручили воссоздать Лондон. Под его руководством было построено 52 церкви, в том числе и собор Святого Павла. Его работы превратили Лондон в город, который мы знаем и восхищаемся сегодня. ⠀ На фото 📸 вы видели the Monument — памятник, посвященный Великому пожару и городу, который поднялся из пепла. Yesterday we were at the World Travel Market #WTM- a three day internationally attended event for the travel industry including us travel bloggers held at the Excel centre in London. It was an inspiring, hopeful and enthralling experience as well as an assault on all of the senses (that's why we look so tired!). The talks were engaging and useful, networking was fun and the entertainment was well entertaining! We now have bags and bags of free swag. Maybe we'll run a competition to give some of it anyway.
