[on why being "productive" is often counterproductive & how to embrace the law of least effort instead] • 🙈 ayyyy, this one is so tricky! when we have a goal or vision or maybe even a need to fulfill our basic human needs (sometimes our focus first just has to be makin' dat $ and payin' da bills, right?) it can be all too easy to feel like we need to *hustle* and *be productive* ... but does it ever feel like that just isn't working? • 🙌🏻 there's a reason for that. trust me, I'm learning the hard way too 😖... 👉🏻 your intention behind your action is likely coming from a place of fear/stress/anxiety...and rightly so! when it feels like you're up against the wall, of course 🙈 it's going to be uncomfortable...but what if we shift our intention from "I NEED this or else x, y, and z is going to happen..." to 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 "I WANT this because of x, y, and z..." • ✨ it's a subtle shift, but one that our brain, our nervous system & our energy picks up on...this shift from a negatively-fueled intention to a positively-fueled intention is SO powerful... • 🙌🏻 it looks like this : "I need to make money so I can pay the bills" 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 "I WANT to make money so I can feel free". Feel the difference? You're still hustlin' and grindin', but it's coming from an actual place of desire, rather than feeling like you "have to" to keep up with the darn rat race 😣🐀 • ✨ This focus on a positive intention vs. a negative intention keeps us ENERGIZED vs. DRAINED. 👩🏾💻 Just a quick note here about a few things, I recommend this 16 week writing course from #dailyom to all who write, and aspire to publish. I only wish I had seen it sooner! It’s so so true. This beautiful flower-mantra! When I think about what is on the other side of love-what comes to mind is fear. When I think of fear-it feels like a prison. A cage. A trap. Fear immobilizes me. I was born in Wisconsin so what also comes to mind is a deer in the headlights! Ha! It’s actually rather disturbing. It’s something that has definitely happened to me as well. there’s been points in life where I’ve become consumed with fear and I’m literally frozen and can’t make any decisions. Not only decisions-I haven’t been able to physically move. It can be a challenge to move from this place of fear to authentic love. Though it truly feels like the exact opposite vibration. What do you feel like when you’re experiencing the deepest most expensive expression of love? What about fear? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ✨ ✨ I remember being in Cuba not too long ago with two very close girlfriends in my life. Two women that really mean the world to me. One of them-after a few drinks I have to mention-decided to get real with me. She said- i’ve heard you say over and over during this trip. “I’m scared” or “I’m worried.” What’s up with that shit? Let that shit go. This wasn’t verbatim-the conversation had a bit more energy and a bit more depth; especially because I found it a little bit jarring. I didn’t except what she was saying in the moment, but it creeped in slowly for the rest of the trip. It was true. She was right. I was allowing myself to be weak. [on fully feeling grateful vs. feeling "bad"/not deserving/not "doing enough"] • 🙌🏻 maybe you've tried a daily gratitude practice and don't know what the fuss is all about or wonder if it's actually "doing anything" for you? • 🙌🏻 Here's the deal...I thought I was practicing gratitude too. I mean, I could recognize and see all these amazing things in my life, and even just the beauty of nature all around me! But is there ever a part of you that feels guilty? Or bad? Or on some unconscious level undeserving? Like you still haven't DONE or ACHIEVED enough to let yourself fully enjoy all the abundance in your life? Like you're searching for abundance ($, happiness, health, love, you name it) ONCE you've "done enough" or "worked hard enough" or "accomplished enough"? • 🙌🏻 I had a revelation the other day that I was not fully accepting all the incredible things in my life. Feeling bad that I live in this incredible house so close to the beach, yet I haven't "earned it". Feeling bad that I've had so many opportunities to travel, yet I haven't "earned it". Like I had to PROVE my worthiness of these things. Ummm...sad! How torturous to myself! Have you ever felt this way?! • 🙌🏻 When we realize that we were born into this world with our greatest strengths & talents (and didn't have to "do" anything to develop those, they are inherently a part of us), we can realize that this alone makes us deserving, because we actually unknowingly attracted all of this abundance to ourselves!! I didn't just end up with an incredible husband and friends and be able to travel and live in an amazing city because I'm luckier than anyone else...and the same goes for YOU! • 🙌🏻 When we actually embrace the depth of our selves, and what makes us US, our greatest strengths can flow freely, and this attracts good things to us - and without much effort at all. In fact, with such little effort that it feels like they just happened "to us" not "because of us". So, you DO deserve all the amazing things in your life, because you actually brought them to you! Reconnect with your innate strengths & you will find a deeper sense of gratitude 💗
[on getting out of your head so you can actually enjoy life with your partner] • 😒 there was a time when I realized I often was thinking about something else in my head (🙈 monkey mind anyone?!) while my amazing, hunky husband was talking...what an awful feeling! I completely wanted to listen to what he was saying, but my monkey mind was hoppin' all over the place distracting me! I hateddddd it! Have you ever felt this way or caught yourself not knowing what your friend or loved one was saying because you were listening to the conversation in your head instead? Yeahhhh...I feel ya, it ain't fun! • 🙌🏻✨💗 Fortunately...I believe so strongly in #neuroplasticity and our ability to rewire our brains so we can enjoy life more fully with those we love ☺️ this is POSSIBLE for you! • 🙌🏻✨💗 The first step is understanding how the mind traps us...the thing is, when we engage our thinking mind, we immediately, literally, pull ourselves out of the present! This is because we can ONLY think in the PAST or the FUTURE. The thinking mind cannot operate in the present. • 🙌🏻✨💗 Even that little annoying voice (hehe) that narrates your life can fool you into thinking you're in the present moment ("oh this sunset is so beautiful!") <<<---- that's your mind at work again, trying to control your interpretation of the present moment and apply labels/judgments to it...reclaiming the "remote control" to your mind requires quieting this voice by doing one thing to start 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 INVITING in SILENCE. That's it. Even if it's a half a second of silence in between each thought, start there. And build up that endurance. Just like strengthening a physical muscle, we are strengthening your mental muscles 💪🏻😜 Change is ALWAYS possible!

This act of change allows us to step outside of ourselves and discover new and exciting things that are often already present in our everyday lives. Simple things such as eating a healthier diet, taking a new class, or joining a club are all ways in which we can go beyond our comfort zone and explore the wonders that exist all around us. Keep in mind that the moment we do something different from our usual routine, the more fresh energy, hope, and blessings we will manifest in our life. What this means is that we'll no longer see things as being tedious but will instead realize the preciousness of everything. Being able to integrate these subtle changes on a daily basis allows us to recognize the miracles that are our lives. [on how to actually get motivated to "work out"] • 🤢 I don't even like that phrase "work out"...it feels kinda yucky to me, don't you agree? Doesn't it make you feel like it's this thing you just have to check off your to-do list because we're "supposed to"? Icccck! • 🙌🏻 If you struggle to find the motivation to *take care of your body with physical movement*, keep on readin'! What if you took a moment to redefine your "WHY"? Often times, we don't realize that we are using someone ELSE'S motivation to motivate ourselves! And that just ain't gonna work!!! • 💪🏻 Taking the time to get clear on why YOU actually care about taking care of your body will allow you to talk yourself INTO *exercising* rather than having all the reasons ready to go to talk yourself OUT of it. It's hard to persuade ourselves to do something new if we haven't come up with a very good argument for it! Get good at persuading yourself to *take care of your body*! • 🙌🏻 This just requires a little prep, just like a lawyer prepping for a big court case, we have to get clear on all the reasons why WE care about our health & fitness...and usually, it is not the reasons we have been telling ourselves! 👉🏻 Social media and fitness advertising provide us with surface-level motivations of "getting skinny" and "bikini-ready", but really, what we all want is to feel completely confident in our own skin, or to be able to do cool things in life with the people we love...to not be held back by our bodies, but to have bodies that allow us to live fully! • ✨So, what's your "why"?! [on how to stop searching for meaning & happiness...and actually find it 😜] • 🙋🏻 oh heyyyy! are you naturally ambitious & hard-working? are you naturally driven by goals? are you not into "settling"? • 🙈 yeahhh...me too...and this gets us into a bit of a predicament! 💗 I LOVE seeing what's *possible* in the world & not placing any limits on my life and what I can achieve...but there's a fine little line to avoid tripping over here 😆 • 🙌🏻 you can absolutely balance ambition & living mindfully! we can still have an INTENTION for the FUTURE, but place our ATTENTION in the NOW (thanks @deepakchopra for writing this so beautifully in the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success) ... this can be SO hard at first to let go of, but when you stop tying your *feelings* and sense of *self-worth* and *meaning* from your achievements, and instead from who you actually are in ANY given moment 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 (i.e. reconnect to the natural gifts/talents/strengths you were born into this world with, not some technical skill you picked up along the way) 👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻 THEN you will be able to feel true inner happiness & peace regardless of external conditions... and this will allow you to bring such ✨ positive energy & momentum to everything you do that you will actually achieve your goals so much quicker and with such a greater sense of lightness! 👊🏻You can feel ____ NOW.
[what accepting the present moment ACTUALLY means] • 🙌🏻 when we finally get so sick & tired of living in our head and believing all the negative thoughts our mind is feeding us, that is when the journey to mindful living begins. otherwise, it just sounds like another trendy buzzword, right? 🤷🏻♀️🤣 • 😌 first - rest easy & give yourself a break in knowing that this is going to be a longggg (but well worth it!) road...with many deeply & intricately woven layers to unravel • 👉🏻 just the other day, I became aware of how much I was STILL struggling against the present moment... 👉🏻 even though I had developed the capacity to "bring myself into the present moment" via breathing & meditation & all that good stuff, I would always rebound right back to wanting to "get ahead" 😣, wanting to be at the next stage of my business... • 🙌🏻 is there something you WANT so badly? it's okay to strive for something in the future (obviously 😜 or else we'd all just be hippies sitting on the side of the road not doin' much of anything), but do you ACTUALLY accept where you are at on the road to getting there? if you're building a business, even though you WANT more income & clients, are you trying so hard to get away from this present moment that you are struggling against it? it's more than okay (in fact, it's awesomely ambitious of you 👌🏻) to strive to better yourself & grow, but we MUST come to terms with where we are at right now • 🙌🏻 the depth of what this really means might take hearing it a thousand times (if you're as stubborn as me 🤣) before it sinks in...but keep seeking to understand how you can simply feel complete gratitude for who you are in this moment, without having to "achieve" or "do" something else in order to feel complete or happy ... 👉🏻because the truth is, our brain won't suddenly unlearn this patterning itself when we reach that "next step"...it'll keep defaulting to this "search mode", searching for the next thing we have to accomplish in order to get closer to that feeling of completeness ... search for that sense of completeness within you NOW • 🙌🏻 You were born into this world complete. One of the things I did with both big kids was an early start to their alphabet from day 1. It wasn't about being a tiger mom. It was about helping them develop sounds and recognition so we could communicate with each other. As a supplemental thing, we've always repeated words to them while pointing to things in every day life. Even better when the words in real life matched to the things in the books. With lil man (my eldest), I never thought it was working really until one day I said a word in one of these books and he brought me an object that matched the thing in the book. That made me so happy. Seriously, I almost cried. So we did the same with lil lady and now lil mister. I never thought we'd be using these books for 8+ years. This past week each day, while we were on the K book, I read the word "kiss" as I always do. While I was reading it, he leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek. The joy I have felt each time he did it ... to know the things you are doing are making a difference... that your child really understands you. It's the little things my friends. I learn something from my kids every day. This week they've reminded me to be less critical of myself. To remember the little things can make a difference and to enjoy them. Real life most often happens during the in-between times, when we are not celebrating a special occasion. 🧚♀️ W hile celebrations are intended to honor life's more momentous occasions, much of real life tends to happen during the in-between times. While moving from one moment in time to the next is seldom considered a significant occurrence, it is during those in-between times that we are most in tune with life's most profound, albeit simple joys. Between birth and death, triumph and sorrow, beginnings and endings, we enjoy innumerable experiences that often happen unnoticed. How you choose to celebrate them or which moments you choose to celebrate is up to you. 🧚♀️You may want to celebrate the simple facts that you are alive and that every day is a chance to spend time with the people you care about or do the work that you love. Some people seem called to help others, often from very early on in their childhoods, responding to the needs of family members, strangers, or animals with a selflessness that is impressive. Often, these people appear to have very few needs of their own, and the focus of their lives is on rescuing, helping, and healing others. While there are a few people who are truly able to sustain this completely giving lifestyle, the vast majority has needs that lie beneath the surface, unmet and often unseen. In these cases, their motivation to help others may be an extension of a deep desire to heal a wounded part of themselves that is starving for the kind of love and attention they dole out to those around them on a daily basis.
