Movie Recommendation Tuesday time here's a lesser known or overlooked/forgotten movie for you to check out. This will kick off #Marvel week, where i will be doing reviews for random films i have not yet done from the #mcu Lets start this out with The Incredible Hulk which i think is the most underrated and overlooked Marvel film, sometimes im convinced people forget it exists. This one is the second MCU film to come out and is about the continuing adventures of Bruce Banner as he hides out from the government trying to control his rage. He ends up going back to the #usa when he thinks there is some one who can help cure him. Upon arrival he is immediately hunted down by the military who have created a new weapon to stop him. I actually really like this one, i mean its not super high up on my list or the MCU but its better than a few and it is decently high on my all time #Superhero movies list. The writing isnt great but it has a decent enough story that has within it a pretty good love story, the characters are also well written compared to some other Marvel movirs. One thing i really like here is that they start the story very open for interpretation, hes already the hulk and hes been through some shit, so if you so please to view this as a sequel to Ang Lee's #Hulk it actually works. The Directing is done by Louis Leterrier and he carries a lot of his quick paced action style and weird camera angles into this and it works, we also get some great visuals and a nice dark tint to the colour which adds a darker tone to the film. Biggest flaw here are some pacing and tone issues. We also get some nice CGI and one of the best final fight scenes in a Marvel movie. The acting is ok and the movie has a decent cast behind it, i think the weak dialogue hurts it sometimes though. Edward Norton and Liv Tyler both give good performances and share great chemistry. Tim Roth and William Hurt are both good but way over act sometimes and it takes you out of the movie. The rest of the cast has Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell and Lou Ferrigno. Funny story, Leterrier wanted Mark Ruffalo for Bruce Banner, but Marvel insisted on Edward Norton. Watch it, its worth it. 7.1/10

#RoadtoInfinityWar Challenge (In chronological order) BRING ON INFINITY WAR, MY BODY IS READY! Week 17 - Thor Ragnarok Whenever you get the chance to... let the quirky guy direct your movie cuz look what happened to the Thor franchise! Honestly, it felt weird at 1st cuz it was just so incredibly un-Thor like. Get over that, & what you have is an incredibly fun ride. Cate Blanchett absolutely kills it as Hela, tho the character could have been better developed. The other point of contention I had with the movie was how the humour kinda took away from the gravity of the destruction of Asgard. All that aside, it was a bold step in a totally different direction, & an outrageously fun time with Thor, Hulk, Loki & Valkyrie. . . Week 17b - Black Panther Everything was so good about this movie. Amazing supporting cast, one of the best MCU villains, a solid & culturally relevant plot... so much so that I felt it kinda made the main character T’challa a little... bland. Still, that’s a minor gripe for an otherwise masterpiece in the superhero movie genre. Blockers (2018): Blockers should be a massive hit. It’s incredibly funny, has phenomenal performances, and hits lots of great dramatic notes as well. All of that is on top of the face that the movie smashes gender lines in hilarious and often awe-inspiring ways! Director @kaykaycannon should be over the moon about her finished product here as Blockers is easily one of the best full-on comedies I’ve seen in a long while (mind you, I am not a fan of comedies, in general), not just because it makes you laugh consistently (which it does) but because it’s a humanizing story about the double standards faced by women in this and every subsequent age. It doesn’t do this with a bullhorn, rather this is all handled with TLC and is all the strong as a result. Performances are exemplary with two sets of great characters. First off: the adults. @lesliemann @johncena and @ikebarinholtz are just great here. They have great chemistry and each gets plenty of moments to shine. Cena probably has most of the laughs but Mann is great at turning on a dime from comedy to drama and Barinholtz is great as the man-child with more going on beneath the surface. There are some amazing bits of physical comedy as well (all three trying to “carpool” and Mann’s hotel room antics come to mind). The film belongs, however, to the younger cast members and they, quite simply, rule this roost! @kathrynnewton is stunning, funny, and real. @gideonadlon will melt your heart—and sneak in some surprising laughs! @yoyogeradline is the breakout star here. Her character is just hilarious throughout and has some of the absolute best lines in the film. We will be seeing more of her; I am sure. These three are so fantastic together. You really buy that they are best friends and will do anything for each other. This friendship and connection is what makes the film so damn strong. Comedy is fine but if we don’t care about the people, it doesn’t matter. Here, we care and the film is absolute progressive gold as a result. See it! #movie_mattinee @oscarwatchpod @samenightmovie

Giving the reigns for this cosmic adventure to director James Gunn, whose small budget horror/comedies didn’t exactly scream summer tentpole movies, but Gunn’s perfect blend of comic action, witty dialogue and a great soundtrack proved to be the right call. The casting of Chris Pratt as the lead character of Star Lord also proved that Marvel couldn’t miss in that department either. Mostly known as the goofy but lovable man-child Andy Dwyer on Parks & Rec, Pratt bulked up his physique but kept his dim witted charm to become the breakout star of the decade. Dave Bautista, of WWE fame, was also a surprise as Drax, stealing many of the scenes he was in as well. The film, although not directly connected to anything we’d seen in The Avengers side of things, tied everything together with the Infinity Stones and the first appearance of Josh Brolin as Thanos. Teasing the big bad of the whole MCU was a nice touch even though he wouldn’t be fully realized for four more years, it made the whole of the MCU that much larger, and each film that followed a stepping stone to where we are at now. Gunn and company would follow it up three years later with Vol. 2 and while it didn’t really offer up anything new, it still had the same witty charm, a scene stealing turn from Michael Rooker, a fun scene chewing villain in Kurt Russell and a closing scene that was one of the best moments of any in the MCU. With a Vol. 3 all but confirmed, it’s safe to say that Peter Quill and his cohorts will be making it out of Infinity War alive, but how a return to his home planet and their interactions with a new group of superheroes will affect the Guardians should be fun to watch.

Day 58, Movie 87: House Shark This is directed by Ron Bonk the head of one of my favorite indie distributors: SRS Cinema. SRS Cinema is/was the home of Donald Farmer, Tim Ritter, Ryan Nicholson and Chris Seaver. If you have been following me long enough, then you know I love Chris Seaver, but I also adore the other three. Their stuff will be here soon. Anyway, considering the previous few statements, I should have expected bang for my buck, but the runtime was a little long and I wondered if it could sustain the joke for two hours. I should not have worried, because this delivered exactly what I wanted from a movie called House Shark. (Ricky Jay rides again) To explain. House Shark reminds me of John Waters in his prime. It is funny, obscene, non-politically correct and good natured, just like Waters. Do you really need to know the plot? It is Jaws, but the shark is in a house. Duh. The writing is clever, the acting is on point and the effects are wonderfully low budget. It has a lot of love and heart. Just how I like my indie movies. Check it out.
