Well I thought I might have a finish line photo to post but sadly this is the only one I have of my last race. When I look at it I can’t help but think back to the first half I ran. I’ve come a long way in the past two years. I might not look as glamorous as other runners but I think the smile on my face says it all. I really do love running, the good days and the bad. Ditch the damn SCALE! ✨ . I want to get real and deep as I introduce you to these two women. (I haven't shared this before) . The woman on the left : - she is 100% obsessed with the scale. - she drastically restricts her food each day and when she does eat it's chicken and salad (that's it!) - she works out multiple times a day to try and FORCE her body to continue shrinking faster and faster. - she has little to no energy and constantly feels like a failure. . She is depressed, feels weak and is forever chasing outside judgement and acceptance from others. . . The woman on the right : - she barely EVER checks the scale. - she eats non stop as if it's her full time job (all the veggies, fruit, nuts and plant based options she can get her hands on) - she is FULL of energy, feels strong and in control of her mindset and positive outlook on life. - she completes ONE workout per day (18-40 mins MAX) . This woman is healthy, HAPPY, and strong because she is focused on how SHE feels and chooses to work WITH and to LOVE her body. . . . . Y'all - when I started this journey after losing nearly 50 POUNDS from home.....I soon after became OBSESSED with pushing myself harder, and trying to hit a specific NUMBER on the scale in order to FEEL successful. . What ended up happening was me developing and falling back into the cycle of eating disorders as I plummeted to nearly 113 POUNDS. . I was the leanest I'd ever been and I received complements from others daily about how great I looked and I noticed that those statements were all I cared about. . But the truth is, I felt weak, broken and lost although from the outside it may have seemed I was on top of the world. . After having a great circle of women to confide in, I decided to ditch the scale and to slowly start changing to routine to include a FULL meal plan and a structured workout plan where I was no longer being obsessive. . It was so hard to see that scale rise and the inches too. . But watching those muscles begin to pop and feeling as my mindset began to completely shift as I felt strong MENTALLY....I knew I was on the right path. . ***continued in comments***

Yesterday my 16 year old sister-in-law was getting out of the shower and she starts screaming my name. I jumped out of my chair to get to the door and she says she cant hear or see anything. She was finally able to get to the door to unlock it, when she passed out right in the way of the door opening. I was frantic. I panicked. I was scared. My husband wasnt home- and we take care of her and her twin brother. I cracked open the door enough to see her on the floor and she keeps screaming that she cant move, and cant see. The blank stare from her as she layed on the floor this way was so frightening. With the help of her brother and with my mostly calm demeanor, we called emergency. She was finally able to start moving, and suddenly felt very embarrassed about being undressed, and was able to put some clothes on before emergency got there. As she was being checked out by the paramedics, she was very calm. My body would not stop shaking. But i knew i had to stay calm and stay strong for her. If i didnt show how scared I was, she wouldnt feel any more scared. And i continued this way in the ambulance to the emergency room. For 3 hours we waited for tests, and they couldnt figure out what happened. The doctors finally decided they were going to send her home for dehydration. When i got home, my husband had finally made it back from his work event that was a few hours away. As soon as i saw him, he gave me the longest hug, and i started crying. I had to let it all out. Being strong for someone is usually exactly what they need, but its ok if you need to let it go every once in a while. You find strength when you need it, then you need to allow yourself to release it. Even body builders release the weight after theyve carried it on their shoulders.

I have big dreams but no perfect way to record how I am going to get there YET it is all I think about 24/7. You may not know how exciting it is to say that I pushed myself as hard as I could throughout this whole work out! I had to encourage myself to keep going even when I wanted to give up. I knew I could do it physically I just had to tell myself mentally that I could do it. I think that's where my downfall is most of the time. Physically, my body can do it, but I have something in the back of my head saying that I need a break. I can't do it anymore. What I'm going to try this week is to keep doing exactly what i had to do today. Keep telling myselfr to go go go, that I can do it. I know that sounds silly but When you only have 15 seconds to go and you want to stop by focusing on telling yourself to keep going that 15 seconds will be over!!!

Day 22/60 Yesss... the weekends with out any strenuous workouts have made me want to slack a little. I don't like that. I may change it up this weekend. . . Today's motivation was brought to you by this new tank I got in the mail. "I won't quit but I might cuss the whole time." Also, when you realize you match your trainer that makes you want to push just as hard as him. Which you know that's almost impossible if you know who I'm working with. But today, I pushed harder than ever before and i maxed out pretty late. Not sure when exactly but it was close to the 20 minute mark. . . When I first started this cardio challenge I didn't make it too far without taking a break. Fast forward 4 weeks later and I'm rocking it!! I'm hoping to bring some more motivation today with my nutrition! These weekends have been detrimental to my transformation. It's so upsetting, I need to knock it off!! . . What do you tell yourself/do to help you stay on track with nutrition??

Time for one more big effort; Ironman Western Australia on 3rd December 2017 is a go! This will be my 4th Ironman (5th if you count the ITU long distance tri world champs) in just over 6 months but I feel just as excited as ever. The opportunity to go and race for the chance to end the season as the #NumberOne ranked Ironman athlete in the world in my category, was too much to resist. Once again only possible with the incredible support of @Zhotels and certainly not in the original plan for 2017! When I sat down with Nick after #Kona2017, we both agreed that the chance to top the #WorldRankings will almost certainly never happen again, as I don’t intend to race this much in the future (best 3 races in a calendar year count). Instead, I hope to train harder in 2018, with less interruptions (as races can often be) and build towards the ultimate prize at #Kona2018, if I manage to qualify again! With this in mind, then racing in Aus gives me the chance to qualify early and plan 2018 properly. It’s also a flat course so on a perfect day, I hope to challenge the 10 hour threshold, which would be incredible! #BigGoals and I know that one day lady luck won’t be on my side but whilst I have form and fitness, I want to take maximum advantage! Huge thanks to the @teamtriwa guys & girls for offering their support for the event. One more week of taking it easy (am on a swim coaching course…) and then the training will build up again gently. Two or three hard weeks, then tapering down to race day on 3rd December. Then it’ll be 100% family & friends time till the New Year! How bad could it be? ... when you read that, does your mind go to instantly thinking about all the things that could go wrong ... the obstacles ... the trials and errors... the negative impact? . Or do you read that and have a feeling of fortitude... confidence ... composure... and a positive outlook? . For me, I have grown up on those five words and I remind myself of them everyday. Because really it is just comes down to attitude. . I feel very fortunate that my father has always lived life through the second approach... the positive, optimistic, challenge accepted approach... teaching me to do the same. . Showing me it's ok to get outside of your comfort zone ... because how bad could it be? . Showing me that it's ok to set big goals for my self .... because how bad could it be if I don't hit them? . Reminding me that even when my "perfect" plan gets thrown off ... how bad could it be? . I made a mistake ... how bad could it be? . I'm upset with a friend and afraid to voice my feeling on the matter ... how bad could it be when I tell them? . It doesn't matter in what area of my life, those five words have given me freedom. . Freedom to go for it. . Freedom to make the best decision I can and the freedom to move past mistakes if that was the wrong decision. . Freedom to focus on my efforts and what I can control. . Freedom to challenge myself. . Freedom to live life. . Because at the end of the day ... how bad could it be ... like seriously... If you act with the best intentions, you always strive to do the right thing, you try your very best, and no one dies ... how bad could it really be? . So if you have something you want to do ... say it's run a marathon ... go back to school to learn a skill and you'll have to change your lifestyle ... or maybe life throws you a curveball in the form of a huge obstacle ... how bad could it be? . I was depressed, struggling to leave my bed to face a new day and I remember sticking my children in front of cartoons and snacks all day everyday as I hid myself away in my room. . That ONE quote that somehow managed to pop up in my newsfeed that day. . Changed everything for me as I realized that my children would only be healthy and HAPPY..... . If I was. . That very day is when I finally opened up and shared with my husband that I no longer wanted to wake up to a new day and that I needed his help if I was ever going to change. . Admitting and sharing what I was going through was the first and more crucial step for me. . It's been a rollercoaster of a journey overcoming habits and thoughts that were once destroying my life. . But now having learned how to work with and love my body and mind through nutrition and movement....I have my spark for life back. . I was willing to do it all and to go through so much failure in order to ensure that I was the very BEST role model for my babies to know through MY example how important it is to live a healthy and HAPPY life. . They don't know it. . But they SAVED my life because I cared more about them than I did myself and in the process of trying to make them proud, I found my strength and courage to design a life that I LOVED and felt excited and proud to wake up to with each new day! . Y'all. . I hope if you have children especially.... . That you use them as your biggest and most powerful source of inspiration to be the healthiest, strongest and happiest version of you. .
