Hobbyboss TA 152 C-11 update. Very good detail in the cockpit, photo etch foot holders were used as well as photo etch seatbelts. A brown wash was used to add dirt and grime to the cockpit which I think looks ok. The engine detail is also good. You won't see much of it through the wheel wells after the kit is complete but what you will see should look pleasing. The engine was painted black then dry brushed silver. #Hobbyboss #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #aircraftmodels
Italeri 1/48 Hawker Hurricane update. Decals have been applied. The next job will be landing gear and all the little bits and pieces including the prop. I've also begun putting together the TA 152 C-11. Will post updates soon 👍 #Italeri #Hawkerhurricane #plasticmodelkits #scalemodels #modelaircraft #ww2 #battleofbritain
1/48 Italeri Hawker Hurricane MK1. Finished cockpit and engine. Unfortunately the cockpit is no where near as good as Airfix's but with this kit you can have the engine showing and it's a decent looking one too. Also, PE seatbelts are included so that makes up for it I guess. Right now it's all closed up, painted, glossed and ready for the decals (I didn't bother taking a picture due to bad light) but when the decals are applied I will try and get a good picture. #Italeri #Hawkerhurricane #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #modelaircraft
Miniart 1/35 US Soilders at Rest. The flash has been the main problem here and I've been having to search for loads of reference photos from the Internet as the instructions weren't too clear on where to attach the equipment etc. Also the magazine was way too small and needed messing with in order for the guy to hold it. I'm only going to complete these two soilders right now and leave the others until later. #Miniart #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #USinfantry #figurepainting
Here are the Luftwaffe figures that came with the Kubelwagen. The one on the left is finished but the one on the right just needs a wash and a matt coat applied. I've used a mixture of Vallejo and Humbrol paints and Vallejo washes to complete these followed by a coat of Humbrol Matt Cote. The main uniform colour is dark bluegrey and the boots are black. Insignia yellow was used for the life jacket. A black wash was used to bring out the detail in the uniform and a sepia wash was used for the face.
Tamiya 1/35 SAS Pink Panther Land Rover. This ones an old kit dating back to the 70s but you wouldn't think it. The detail is brilliant, although soft in places, but everything has come together really easily and it looks great so far. I'm painting it dark green as though it was based in Europe as I'm really not a fan of the pink colour scheme. When finished the plan is to weather it with oil paints as I did the Sherman tank. #Tamiya #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #SASpinkpantherlandrover
I've been practicing painting figures again. This time I've been building and painting some Tamiya 1/35 scale British Infantry. I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. I've used a black Vallejo wash and think it's made a huge difference bringing out the detail. Can't wait to try the same techniques on the US Soilders at Rest. #Tamiya #scalemodels #figurepainting #Britishinfantry #plasticmodelkits #ww2
Lastly we have this 1/48 scale German APS (Aircraft Power Supply) Unit and Kettenkraftrad again by Tamiya. This is yet another beautifully moulded kit by Tamiya. There's 2x sprues in the box with a decal sheet and wire. It looks like you get 4 figures in total too. 2 that are in standing positions and 2 that are in seating positions. Pros: Crisp detailing. Tons of diorama potential. Cons: None. My final view - Again, if you are looking to do a Luftwaffe diorama, this kit is a must have.
For the next review we have a really beautifully moulded 1/48 scale German Kubelwagen Type 82 with two Luftwaffe figures by Tamiya. In the box are 2x sprues and a poly bag with clear parts and a decal sheet. It also looks like there's a map and road signs that need to be cut from the box too. Pros: Crisp and fine detail all around including the figures. Dosen't look overly complicated. Decals which also include arm badges for the figures. Will look amazing on a diorama next to a Luftwaffe plane. Cons: None. My final view - Cannot recommend enough if you're looking for this type of thing. Great value for money.
Going to review this 1/35 scale Miniart kit first - US Soilders at Rest. This kit consists of 5 US infantry soilders at rest. There's a total of 10 sprues alltogether (5 sprues with the soilders and a sprue each for their accessories). There's no decals but there is a small sheet of paper where you can cut out some playing cards, a magazine and newspaper. The figures do have loads of flash but take the time to clean them up and they'll be absolutely stunning when finished. Pros: Highly detailed especially the heads/faces. Crisp detail all around that will take washes very well. Interesting positions. Cons: So much flash. My final view - For the price there is just too much flash. However, clean them up and they'll look brilliant on a diorama.
Had a really great day at the Huddersfield Scale Model Show last Sunday, saw some absolutely stunning models and also picked up a few more kits. I'll probably do a little review of them all later.
Been back working on the Sherman and trying to weather it with oil paints. I think I'm pleased with it so far... I keep going back and forth between thinking it looks good and wondering if I've actually over done it? The next part will be adding the mud to the lower half and wheels. #Tamiya #Sherman #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #Tank #Modeltank #Shermantank
Finished Tamiya Focke Wulf in 1/48 scale. Overall great kit to build, straight forward and all the parts fitted well. A pilot is included but it wasn't as detailed as the Airfix one I had spare so I used that instead. Also although the decals went straight on with no trouble it did take alot of Microsol to get them to snug down into the panel lines. #Tamiya #Fockewulf #scalemodels #plasticmodelkits #WW2 #warplanes
