Happy International Mountain Day! While celebrating mountains... what better day to announce my new side project? I’ve created @DCAdventureClub to feature the best outdoor adventures within 150 miles of Washington, DC. If you’re in the greater DC area, give it a follow for some hiking inspiration! 🏔❄️ / #InternationalMountainDay
Note to self: You don’t have to travel far or hike many miles for it to count as adventure. 🍁 / #VA - After Thanksgiving, I went on an easy walk in the woods at one of my favorite spots not too far from home. A busy schedule & an ankle injury haven’t allowed me to get outside as much as I wanted this fall, but I’ve been forced to remember that adventure can sometimes be a much simpler thing. - P.S. I’m sitting in the hospital right now getting ready for ankle surgery! I’m nervous but excited to finally be on the road to recovery. Hoping that hiking, soccer & snowboarding are in my near future!

A month ago, my friend Laura from @shewho_wanders tagged me in a post to share 10 things about myself. Well, I’m finally completing my part! • 1. My travel obsession began after studying abroad in New Zealand for 5 months in 2009. • 2. When I’m abroad, I usually tell people I’m from Washington, DC (where I work) but I actually live in Arlington, Virginia. • 3. I’m a Washington @Capitals hockey fan & currently on a trip with my dad & brother to see them play 3 games in Canada. • 4. In the past 9 years, I’ve lived in 9 cities in 4 countries. My favorite? Madrid. • 5. I’m considering slowing down on travels in order to get a border collie puppy. • 6. I’ve been playing soccer the majority of my life & have played in leagues on 4 continents. I was recently injured & need surgery, but I’ll be back to it as soon as I recover. • 7. My Myers-Briggs type is ENTP. • 8. I don’t really like going to the movies & I’ve only been twice in 4 years (one was for a work outing). • 9. I’m left handed. • 10. I always try to have a trip planned to look forward to. Big or small. After I return from Canada, next up is Rhode Island... my 23rd state! • & now I nominate @wanderlust_elizabeth!
What a beautiful fall day in Vancouver! Spent yesterday afternoon exploring Stanley Park before watching some @Capitals hockey at night. I’m on a little tour of Canada with my dad and brother following our favorite hockey team for three games. Is there a sports team you’d travel for? 🍁🏒 / #Vancouver + #GoCaps
Oh, beautiful Canada - I can’t wait to see you again next week! Have you been? Please let me know your favorite spots in Calgary, Banff, Edmonton and Vancouver! 🌲🇨🇦 / #ExploreCanada ... No hikes though! Unfortunately, I’m still in a cast & using the scooter from my last post. This will be an interesting trip while injured!
This post is my explanation of why there has been [& will continue to be] a lack of outdoor adventures on my feed. Instead, I’ve been bootin’ & scootin’ around. I tried to block a shot playing soccer and my ankle didn’t take it well so I’m doing all I can to recover before snowboard season! But as you can tell, I’m also pretty excited about my new scooter. 🛴 / #UnionMarketDC + #KindComments
Sometimes, I want to avoid the most touristy spots. When @healyshannon was set on going to the Cliffs of Moher, I wanted to check out Northern Ireland instead. We ended up at the cliffs and you know what, there’s a reason that tourists flock to certain places. It’s because those places are worth seeing! And the Cliffs of Moher were more than worth it! I’ve never seen any landscape like it before. They’re incredible! Have you been? 🇮🇪 / #VisitIreland
There's not much better than October in the mountains! This photo was taken last fall while visiting one of my favorite places: Boone, North Carolina. As the peak leaf season approaches, I'm frustrated that my ankle is in a cast from a soccer injury. Looking forward to a doctor's appointment tomorrow to hopefully get good news! Has an injury ever interrupted you travel plans? ⛰🍁 / #BlueRidgeMountains + #VisitNC
This morning, I woke up to a CNN alert that said "Vieques Island is just seven miles from Puerto Rico. Right now, it might as well be 7,000." In July, I visited Puerto Rico and spent a few days exploring the paradise beaches of Vieques. Reading the alert this morning really got to me. It's hard to imagine these islands destroyed. Within a couple minutes of googling, I found a location near me (@dogmadogbakery) that is collecting donations for the people and animals on the islands to go out on a flight this weekend. This works for me. I encourage you to find a way to help [anyone, anywhere] that works for you. If you need suggestions and links for Puerto Rico donations, send me a DM! 🇵🇷♥️ / #PuertoRico
