Drinking in the spectacular Faroese scenery!!! . Hahaha just a bit of fun folks! I'd set this all up as an InstaStory but then thought it's fun - post it! Hope you think so too? Idea and photo both the creative genius of the very fun and bubbly #faroes17 team member @giorgia_depaoli 🇮🇹 Thanks again @kiltsociety for the beautiful kilt and kit loan . #artofvisuals #lens #lensbible #beautiful #beautifuldestinations #faroes #instagramer #instadaily #instagram #faroeislands #roamtheplanet #shotzdelight #faroes17 #mood #moodygrams #livingeurope #epicworldpix #stayandwander #travel #travellingthroughtheworld #visualsoflife
Oh Faroes, I'm in Love ╳ . This place id marvelled at in photos for months. Tonight I got to see it for myself for the first time and it went beyond beautiful. We flew the short 1 hour flight north to this Danish colony of island situated midway between Scotland and Iceland. This incredible little village sits perched high on the hillside surrounded by the most dramatic hills and cliffs. We travelled through a 3 km long single track tunnel (regular passing places) cut through the mountain to then come out into the bright blue light and this stunning setting. Och stunning is a hopelessly inadequate word but it will have to do! The next 3 days are going to be incredible . #artofvisuals #lens #lensbible #beautiful #beautifuldestinations #faroes #instagramer #instadaily #instagram #faroeislands #roamtheplanet #shotzdelight #faroes17 #mood #moodygrams #livingeurope #epicworldpix #stayandwander #travel #travellingthroughtheworld #visualsoflife
Every Beautiful Colour ╳ . Walking tour of Edinburgh along the Water of Leith and this little section taking you through the picturesque Dean Village. The painted buildings; the beautiful gardens, flowers in bloom - gorgeous! I wanted to stay longer but had a lunch meeting to get to. Thanks @arielclark93 for retracing your steps to help with this photo 🇨🇦 . I have a guest walking tour tomorrow morning from @thebalmoral then lunch with Duncan of @edinburghcitymission and then onto meet Megan at @kiltsociety to pick up my kilt ahead of @visitfaroeislands trip with @shahbazmajeed and @kristyashton on Thursday. I don't think this week could get any more exciting!
Edinburgh. Enjoy The Silence 🌎 ╳ . Symmetry in the City! Truly an architectural gem of Edinburgh. Walking in through a high archway entrance off Edinburgh's 'The Mound' I am left feeling awestruck; even within Edinburgh's magnificent architecture portfolio, of this setting. This pictured is Edinburgh University New College and as I look upward I find myself standing a statue of John Knox, considered the greatest Reformer in the history of Scotland. Extraordinary city and history that has impacted the world. You will see soon for yourself though as I know you are planning your visit this weekend, am I right?! Edinburgh tour information at my website if you'd like me to show you the sights of the city . 'Enjoy The Silence' (it's all relative!) refers to the relative calm that returns to Edinburgh in September after the August Festival crush. Oh and I'd my @depechemode T on . Excited for my first tour in partnership with @thebalmoral this week. Also to be meeting to set up a new partnership with @kiltsociety Expect many photos of me in kilts going forward! That's probably your cue to turn on post notifications, or unfollow!! 🤣 photo credit @mighoward
Midges are out for sunrise at Castle Kilchurn 🤣 ╳ . The time is 4.45am. The midges are up and feeding. There was only one place to hide! Clothes off, braved the icy waters and made for Kilchurn Castle 🤣 Prompted to post this tonight having come across the @kristyashton and @laurel_adventures Kilchurn classic again. One of best IG pics ever posted. Not seen? Go see! @laurel_adventures I know you are a swim coach. Is right elbow high enough? Butterfly was my stroke you see... former 10yrs & under 50 meters butterfly champion I'll have you know! 🥇 . 🎥 @technoalli123 Also met @manuela_palmberger tent pitched at the lochside. 2 great IGers worth checking out.
Tranquility In The City ╳ . A walk into Dean Village takes one away from the busy city centre into a tranquil valley and one of the most picturesque parts of the city. Lovely river walk alongside the Water of Leith takes you to the lovely Stockbridge part of Edinburgh. Great place to rest for coffee before you walk along Circus Lane. For those who don't know I'm running Edinburgh Instagram Tours in partnership with @thebalmoral so be delighted to take you here and so many of the city's most idyllic spots to get the very best Instagram pics for your @instagram collection . 📷 thank you Jules for taking this angle of shot which was much better than my idea and direction! @hagebagej 🇩🇪👏🏻
Edinburgh: Scotland's Capital City bursting with history ╳ *COMPETITION: WIN A PRINT! ╳ 📍 Location Story. Dean Village and the Water of Leith running through for 24 miles from source in the Pentland Hills winding its way through the heart of the capital to its outflow into the Firth of Forth at Leith. Once Edinburgh’s industrial heartland, the valley was host to over 70 mills harnessing the power of the water to produce paper, fabric, and flour with the river mouth supporting a vibrant dock and boat building industry. Today the river is home to a wide diversity of plants and animals from wild garlic and orchids to brown trout, heron, kingfisher and otter, and can be explored on foot or bike along the 12 3/4 mile Water of Leith Walkway . 🚶🏽Picture Story. I owe a considerable debt of gratitude to @tamarakobiolke who I was touring the Capital with yesterday as we prepared our @iangblack and @thebalmoral city @instagram tours when I saw her take a shot through this ornate metal fence. I did likewise and so you follow Tamara and expect to see a better shot from her! I'm sure Tamara won't mind me relaying she sometimes she's 'neighbour' JK Rowling shopping in her local Waitrose food store. I thought that was a pretty cool story 📚 . COMPETITION! WIN A PRINT* To help promote my Edinburgh City Instagram Tours with @thebalmoral I'm giving away a signed 12" X 8" print of this pic OR ANY of my images you'd like. To enter this competition simply ❤️ and add a comment below saying which picture you'd like and I will pick one winner at random on Monday! Good luck!u
Strawberrybank 🍓 the longest loveliest cobbled lane in the world . I love travel and have appreciated many of the great streets of Edinburgh and Glasgow but this lane would feature in my top 5 anywhere in the world. I was on a mini-instatour of Dundee this morning with visiting Australian student @the_musical_daisy Herself an excellent IGer worth following. This Lane had to be a first visit. It leads between the raised beach that is Perth Road at the top and down to the pretty Magdalen Green to the south. If you come to Scotland I'm taking you here. Ok?
Scotland today voted the world’s most beautiful country. Hmm I wonder whatever gave anyone that idea?! . First posted this a year ago but given today's accolade awarded by none other than @roughguides I thought I'd re-post what is possibly the most 'dramatic' of Scottish pictures I've previously posted - that of the most dramatic, romantic, and majestic valley or 'glen' as we call them in Scotland - in the world - Glen Coe ╳ . @technoalli123
Watching while the city sleeps ╳ . Is there a more remarkable city in the world? The Edinburgh Festival over, the city returns to a more normal pattern of living. . Who has walked the new Queensferry Crossing this weekend? How was it for you?! 'BIG', it's BIG is the phrase I keep hearing!
Born to Pipe! The sights and sounds of Scotland are a magnificent thing to behold. Sure if you come to Edinburgh I'll teach you - it really is this easy!!!! 🤣🤣 . Thanks for being such a sport Roddy of The Reel Time Ceilidh Band http://www.reeltimeband.com/ . 🎥 @tamarakobiolke thank you too! 😊
Making Tracks to Scotland ╳ . This is the historic 'Jacobs Ladder', a steep, winding staircase carved directly into the volcanic rock of Calton Hill & offering stunning views over the ancient heart of the city. It leads all the way from under the rail bridge on Calton Road to Regent Road above. Sadly it has been left in a state of disrepair following years of neglect however now heritage bosses want to pump £50,000 into revamping the picturesque path and returning it to its former glory. Edinburgh World Heritage, which safeguards the city’s Unesco World Heritage status, wants to install lighting, repair the walls and footpath, remove graffiti, repaint rusty railings and install signs. Good News!! . Which of you are making tracks to Edinburgh this year and next year 2018? Planes, trains and automobiles - I want to hear where you are coming from and how you plan to get here . Pictured is Edinburgh's Waverley Station, Edinburgh's principal station, some 393 miles from London Kings Cross and at 25 acres the largest mainland station outside of London. Waverley Station is located in a trench at the meeting point of Edinburgh's historic New Town and Old Town. Waverley's entrances are at Princes Street to the North, Market Street to the South and to the West Waverley Bridge (adjacent to East Princes Street Gardens). The three-span North bridge rises up above Waverley to the North.
There is nowhere like it, so when are YOU coming to Edinburgh? ╳ best city you will have visited or I will eat my sporran! . This picture taken on Atholl Crescent Lane. I went looking for it prompted by filming in the recent BBC Crime drama The Replacement which I'm almost certain was filmed on this lane. Anyhow, nice little story to this picture, I couldn't find anyone around so walked some distance to find a helpful Traffic Warden lass who I persuaded needed to follow me down this long lane and take my photo! She did a great job! If you see this please get in touch love!
Perthshire Golden Sunsets ╳ . The River Tay at Perth in Scotland is a sight to behold especially when the sun is setting late on a Saturday evening in August as pictured here. I've noticed one or two trees JUST starting to turn golden which has me VERY excited for this coming Autumn or Fall. Perthshire in the Fall is just one of the best places in the world to be and see Scotland's countryside. I will almost certainly head to #TheHermitage and #KinnoullHill What about you, where will you go? 🍂 #topscotlandphotos
Anchor Close ⚓️ . So I don't generally do collaborations but this is was so good I broke a pattern of posts to work with a great young lad of just 17 and family friend Cameron @toddles_vision who has just got his first camera and has been taking some great shots already. I particularly loved this shot of Anchor Close off the Royal Mile & loved so much I asked if he wouldn't mind I edit and before you know it we have our first collaboration . Lane History: Anchor Close is one of the many small closes that run off of the Royal Mile in the Old Townof Edinburgh. Anchor Close is named after the Anchor Tavern, an old pub that was based nearby. With its old fashioned street lights and steps leading down to Cockburn Street, Anchor Close looks especially atmospheric on a dark evening when the lights are on. Down this close was based a printing house owned by one William Smellie. It was here that the first ever editions of the Encyclopaedia Britannica were printed - the thistle emblem of the encyclopedia reflects its Scottish origins . 🎥 @toddles_vision Edit @iangblack
Edinburgh Awaits 🚁 ╳ . Such an incredible buzz in the city right now. The population of this small city of 0.5 million near doubles in August during the Edinburgh Festival - the worlds largest Arts Festival . I set out on the streets from 5.45am - possibly the only time possible to find the streets quiet. The rain was falling. It was the perfect situation. This is Victoria Street #balmoralgallery . I hope to see this city again at dusk tonight. From 1000 feet. 🚁 Curious, look out for my stories and Facebook live feed this evening! Link in my Bio :)
Edinburgh has so many stunning fresh perspectives. Q. Where is your favourite view of the city? ╳ . It it took quite some time to locate this viewpoint, had to do some reconnaissance, and ultimately having gotten nowhere, asked some knowledgeable friends. How many of you can pick out this view and where it's taken from? Pictured is @espixie who was, as always, lots of fun to go on a mini city tour with. She has has a better edit than mine, go see! Still I hope you like mine. . You may have been to Edinburgh but there is always more to see! Did you know I'm now running Instagram Tours in conjunction with @thebalmoral Hotel? More info at the link in my bio. 😀 #balmoralmoments #balmoralgallery
These Streets of Dundee ╳ . Love touring Scotland but it's always good to come home and my town is Dundee. Say how many of you have been to Dundee? @vadundee @dcadundee @mcmanusdundee @designdundee and the list goes on! 1st UNESCO City of Design in U.K. and coolest small city in UK according to GQ Magazine . This is the gorgeous historic 'Coutties Wynd' one of the oldest streets in the city leading as it does to the Malmaison Hotel. It's bucketing rain today and the world could not look more beautiful ☔️ What are you up to this week? What are your plans? I love Insta most when a conversation strikes up - tell me all! #GlobalCommunity 📷@kristyashton
