Off to the solicitors to sign the paperwork for the move this morning. Things finally look like they may be happening. Then I’m planning on spending the afternoon on the tennis court hitting a few balls... this move has been STRESSFUL! In other news, I was so inspired by our trip to @devolkitchens yesterday that I’m now seriously considering net curtains for the new house. Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d utter.
We drove out to Leicestershire to visit @devolkitchens at Cotes Mill today. It’s the most idyllic place with peacocks and deer roaming around outside and it was bathed in glorious sunshine today too. They’ve just opened up some new rooms in one of the loveliest parts of the old mill after years of renovation and restoration and I fell in love with the simplicity of this traditional Georgian style scullery. Isn’t it beautiful? #dreamkitchen #kitchengoals #deVOLkitchens
We've had a couple of hurdles to overcome with the house we're buying so still no move date here. I've found the process very frustrating and pretty tough if I'm being honest. Things are slowly moving forward though and we're hoping the remaining issues can be sorted out soon. In the meantime the planning continues...
Hello, sorry for the radio silence. I've been enjoying a bit of a break and doing a lot of thinking about how I feel about social media at the moment. I'm not about to give it up - my community is here and it plays a big part in my work. I am uncomfortable about Facebook's role in the current data scandal though and that has made me feel less inclined to hang out here. Anyone else feel the same? I'm also pretty distracted by our impending move right now. I can't wait to throw all my energy into lots of exciting renovation projects and am really looking forward to being able to share them all with you over on the blog.
One of the first rooms we'll be tackling in the new house is the bathroom. The property requires lots of updating. Our aim is to create a fresh new space that will provide contemporary comfort and style while also retaining a degree of sensitivity to the original character of the house. I've already created a moodboard and have also been researching tile options for a campaign I'm working on with @britishceramictile this month. You can read more about my plans and see the moodboard I styled for them over on their website. #britishceramictile #obsessivelyoriginal #ad
It still feels like winter but Spring is within touching distance. We were so lucky to catch some decent weather when we escaped to Cornwall recently before the snow descended upon us. This is the lovely loft apartment we stayed in @seavistabnb in Mawgan Porth. If you're planning a few days away and looking for somewhere to stay we'd really recommend it. All the details are over on the blog today along with a full tour of this beautiful holiday rental. #designhunterdestinations
We're in that limbo phase of the house move at the moment. We've done everything we can to get things moving but still aren't sure how long things will take because we're waiting on other people in the chain. I'm trying really hard to be patient but am itching to get started on new projects. In the meantime this lovely soothing fragrance from the new Bastide collection by @compagniedeprovence is helping me stay calm. [gift] #compagniedeprovence #bastide
Back home tomorrow and I'm starting work on planning a couple of projects for the new house this week. The first thing we're going to tackle is the bathroom - it has a really dated turquoise suite that looks as if it's been there since the 1970s. I'm thinking of patterned floor tiles and simple white rectangular tiles for the walls so I've been drawing lots of inspiration from this en suite in the lovely apartment we've been staying in this weekend. @seavistabnb #designhunterdestinations
Getting the weekend off to a good start at @seavistabnb in Mawgan Porth. Already so cosy here in our beautiful loft apartment that I'm not sure we'll manage to make it out for dinner. Luckily we arrived to a thoughtful welcome hamper - scrambled eggs on toast and prosecco it is then. 🍾 #weekendvibes #designhunterdestinations
When the roses and chocolates your husband gave you are just out of shot but you decide the twigs work better for the picture. Happy Valentine's day everyone and hello and welcome to the lovely new folllowers who found me via @madaboutthehouse's '10 beautiful rooms' post this week. I hope you'll stick around to follow our journey as we move into a new home and embark on a big renovation project. #designhunterhome
I work from home a lot and often use our living room for photoshoots or styling projects so I need the space to be flexible. I like to be able to move things around, and that includes the TV. With the studio stand for our @SamsungUK QLED TV I can do just that. I can place it in the corner or move it over to the other side of the room if I want to adopt a different layout within the space... it looks great from any angle. #samsungqledtv #ad
So I have some exciting news - we've found a house! After exploring lots of different options from self building to country life in the Cotswolds we've decided to stay here in Leamington and have had an offer accepted on a 1930s semi. It's a real doer upper but still has many of its original features. It will definitely keep us busy for a while - there will be LOTS of projects to tackle but we are both really excited and can't wait to get started.
