Like I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I am not a vocal activist, but i wanted to share my experience on this matter: I was in the 10th grade at Kamehameha when it was BIG news and massive protests against this plant... as a school assignment, we had to research what this Geothermal plant was all about and write an essay on our personal opinions and feelings as native Hawaiian students about the idea of drilling into the land and artificially harnessing its energy ... Of course I was completely against it understanding the importance and reverence for Madame Pele and absolutely knowing that it was the hewa thing to do... Xie Xie 🇨🇳!!! What an amazing trip! To be able to come to one of my ancestral lands and share culture from the sands of my birth has been nothing short of amazing... I learned so much... Did you know historically it was the Chinese that were the first to have interracial marriage and children with the Hawaiians??? 😍😍😍 because of our shared values of family and the importance of loving, nurturing, and cultivating the ʻāina... the parallel ideals of the life force called chi and mana 🙌🏻✨ AND funny enough, our speaking habits of “Eh!...” and “Yah!” is VERY Chinese!
